Its because of his past. It just adds on but if you look at his resume he generally doesn't stay long anywhere. They should have been expecting this and actually stayed longer than the usual 3 years or less at Ole Miss.
Exactly. Lane's track record shows that he's a nomad. No one should've been caught off guard by the decision.

The real problem, as others have pointed out, is the NCAA's calendar. That thing needs to be fixed ASAP.

Players and coaches shouldn't be allowed to move on to new schools until after the season.

And a year from now he will be in the transfer portal for the highest bidder. This stuff used to matter more. Now all it means is that he will start as a freshman at Vandy.
Yep. If he goes to one of the big schools, chances are he sits on the bench for a year or two behind some other highly recruited guy. But at Vandy he'll start then go to the highest bidder in a year or two. I absolutely HATE the way college football is run now.

Yeah I really don't like it. And frankly for the most part none of the big programs are putting young QBs out there to start. If they have no veteran QB they just go into the transfer portal and find one.

OU has been living off of transfer qbs since BV arrived. It would be nice to get a top recruit who would stick around. It's impossible to build anything sustainable when, every year, you're worried about players burning off.

If we had the NIL without the transfer portal, I think it would be okay. But with them both together, I think it has ruined the game to a degree. From year to year I don't even know who all is on my own damn team. I hate it.

Yep. Or go back to making them sit out a year if they transfer. That would stop a lot of it.

I agree.

The only other thing I can think of is when a player signs an NIL that it contractually obligates them to play for that school for longer than a year. But the problem is those NIL deals are just kind of weird. And I'm not sure there is anyway to really make them enforceable the way you do with a player signing an NFL contract.

I would prefer a rematch against Alabama (at home this time) than to have to play Notre Dame.
Same.

Ty Simpson and Bama seem to be losing steam down the stretch whereas Notre Dame has been playing their best ball of the season the past few weeks.

Also, I don't think Bama would handle the OK weather as well as the Irish.

Mateer has another year of eligibility but I'm hoping they can find a better, long-term answer at QB starting in 2026.

It's like 50 in Oklahoma this time of year, I guess at night it could get into the 30's or upper 20's on a cold night.
