Hope I got the time stamp correct, but Beliichick raves about Turpintime, says he flat would not kick it to the guy.

Turpin catches a lot of shit on this board and I don't know why.

I get it.... In 2 seasons he didn't get a single return TD, but he got really close quite a few times and has had a good amount of kick and punt returns for good yardage.

And while he's never going to be a real weapon on the offensive side of the ball, he did improve in that aspect last season as he was far more productive last season than the season before.

And now the guy finally scored his first TD as a return man.

The guy costs next to nothing to keep on the team all while being one of the better return men in the league and a player who makes productive plays on offense here and there.

I'm not really sure what else you'd want from a guy who comes so cheap?

Devin Hester didn't present an offensive weapon either. Just saying.

Yeah but that's not a great example because Hester wasn't a pretty good return man or even a great return man.

He's the best return man in the history of the sport so you tend to make concessions for those types.

But I get your point and I agree with it. He may not be a an offensive weapon, but he's also not a waste there either. He can and has contributed to that side of the ball.

Yea Garrett roughed him up pretty good when he wasn't getting help, but that's to be expected. He held up really well otherwise against everybody else and had a few decent reps against Garrett 1-on-1.

I've also seen Garrett beat double and triple teams with regularity so he deserves some credit for holding up against Garrett even with help.

Yeah pretty tough test for raw rookie starting game one at LT. The good news for him will be that it doesn't get any harder from here. Hopefully he will be even better by the time he faces Watt or Bosa.

Yeah I thought it was very respectable debut. He certainly looks strong. I think his angles on blocks will get better quickly as well once he's used to the speed of the game. And on several of those his angles were perfect to the block. Also his switches look really smooth. He doesn't look lost at all.

Yea Garrett is definitely the best defensive player we'll face and maybe the best player overall. Watt and Bosa aren't far behind but that's part of it.

As long as he can put up a respectable fight against those types while holding up against the rest, that's a huge win.

And by years 2/3 he'll be in better shape to be left on an island even against those elite guys.

He's certainly contributed more than Godwin when you factor in the dropoff from whomever the replacement would be.
