Random thought - I wanted us to sign David Montgomery a few years ago to pair with Pollard while possibly cutting Elliott. It seemed like a nice fit stylistically given that I expected Montgomery to get a middling deal (ended up being 6/year) and obviously we've seen how that's turned out in Detroit with a very similar pairing.
This coming FA period I think Najee Harris fits the same mold. He's not a singular bell cow type RB but you can definitely get away with him as your starter, although ideally you pair him with someone more explosive while he does the physical dirty work.
I bet he won't get much, maybe somewhere around 5-6/year like Montgomery a few years ago, but he'd open up the draft for us to where we could wait until the 3rd or even 4th (if we trade down) for a RB. If Jeanty is the clear BPA and we take him, that's still a great fit, but you could also wait until the 3rd and take Dylan Sampson or Treyveon Henderson and still have a great complementary duo.
I'm sure this sort of higher order thinking is beyond the capabilities of the morons leading this organization.
