You know, mistakes happen. You live, you learn and you get better.

Jerry's life long problem has been he makes mistakes, never admits they were a mistake and thus never learns and then as a result he makes the same mistakes again and again and never learns anything.

Yep. And they made the same dumb mistake this year with Mingo, as if they are trying to prove your point.

Agreed.

But in this instance it's perfectly fine to remain defiant since the player is still on the roster. Now if this were April and Lance is no longer with the team and he gives the same answer, then I'd have a problem.

F the feelings. If they don't like the view of themselves get better.

Ok. I would like to say that but I know its not really going to happen that way.

Jones has dismissed the chance to restructure the team but opted to strap it down with a sell out to two players. Next the worst becision was injured and the team did,nt have a suitable backup. Now he is trending toward getting a different coach but he is possibly trending toward Kliff Kingsbury who hasn’t really shown he can be a successful Quarterback coach and if that happens the Cowboys as a team with improvement potential is pretty much nil. At this point he has pretty much done all the things that blows up any winning potential.

The Mingo trade tells us loud and clear that this answer wasn't diplomacy from Jones. They still actually believe what they did with Lance was ok because they essentially did it again.

There are also ways of saying things that can protect the player's feelings while also demonstrating that you have learned from your mistakes.

"We love Lance and believe he's going to do great things in this league. We're happy he's with us. From a cost benefit analysis, we could have played our hand a little differently with regard to how the compensation played out."

There's nothing wrong with saying something like that, because you're admitting maybe you made a mistake without outright saying it and you're also praising the player. You're putting the onus on the organization to make smarter decisions while also giving love to the player.

Except he won't say anything like that because he doesn't believe it or think they did anything wrong.

It is hard to believe these guys still go with their draft grades on players that have been in the league for a few years. :lol

This is their current strategy of value-shopping, evolving from ex-Pro Bowlers with suspensions (TO, PacMan, Rolando, Aldon, Hardy) and drafting first-round talent with issues knocking them to Day 2/3 (Sean Lee, Randy Gregory, Jaylon Smith, Bruce Carter)

This is their current strategy of value-shopping.

Previously, it was ex-Pro Bowlers with suspensions (TO, PacMan, Rolando, Aldon, Hardy) as well as drafting first-round talent with issues knocking them to Day 2/3 (Sean Lee, Randy Gregory, Jaylon Smith, Bruce Carter)
Sad thing is that list is dominated by a lot more misses than hits. And even when the guy outperformed (Lee, Mcclain), they never did so consistently
