It’s done to limit possessions and eat clock. When you’re up by 3 TDs with less than 10 minutes to go, you actually want to give up easy completions and keep things in front of you.

They absolutely sucked tonight. OU played well on defense, but they've been a very bad football team all year. Bama can't claim to be a playoff team and put a performance out there like that tonight.

If you have 3 losses, and you have 2 or 3 underwhelming performances/losses vs unranked teams, then you're simply just a good team, not a great one, and they need to stop being defended as if they're great.

The committee clearly thinks they're great, hence why they jumped Alabama over Miami last weekend when all Alabama did was beat Mercer!

They are trying like hell to make cases for why both Alabama and Georgia should be highly ranked despite their inconsistent play and struggles vs lesser teams.

I'll never forget in the very first playoff when Brent Musberger called Ohio State over TCU and Baylor weeks in advance despite their records because, as he said, if it's remotely close they'll go for ratings. He was 100% right. And it's the same today.

So yeah, if Bama gets it together and wins big next week watch them get in. ESPN will want the biggest name/ratings possible.

Another random thought, if Boise finishes the year with only 1 loss (at Oregon) and in the playoff, Jeanty has to win the Heisman. I don't care what Hunter is doing, a RB putting up 2300/30 to lead Boise St. into the top 10 with an average at best QB needs to win it.
