I listened to the Break show just now on what to do on the line. That was the first I'd heard about McGovern starting at center. Eatman said it was happening. They also agreed that McG would be playing a lot, they just didn't know where.

That tells me they have settled on Tyler as starting LG and want to see if McG could be better than Biadasz. We knew they weren't totally satisfied with him at C.

Fwiw, Eatman thinks you should play Tyler at LT. Says that's why you drafted him, and you didn't expect Tyron to last much longer anyway, so go ahead and make the future now. Would make sense if he'd been practicing there at all.
The impression I got is that McGovern is just playing center to see if he can handle it in emergency situations, not because he might replace Biadasz.

I think that ship sailed last preseason when he fucked up like 4 snaps in one quarter against Arizona I believe.

Probably, but what's weird about it is pretty much everyone agrees that Farniok has something. Even that show talked about how he might be as good as McG. So wouldn't he be your backup? I guess maybe this could be for the emergency-emergency when both your centers are hurt.

This is correct. Either you trust your #1 pick to handle LT, or you.. wait for it... FUCKING SIGN SOMEONE!

We haven't talked a lot about that option... would you trust him right now? I wouldn't.

Not that he can't eventually do it, but he's had no work there at all. Would be pretty risky for at least a few weeks.

Hell no, I wouldn't trust him to protect Dak's blindside. Not this early. No fucking way. Hence the, FUCKING SIGN SOMEONE, being in all caps.

Blocking TE to help chip. Vet minimum.

Yeah, would be totally different if he had been playing all preseason at LT. But dude is our starting LG and has been playing exclusively there. The poor guy is a rookie, the last thing he needs to be doing is bouncing all over the place.

What if he's good at it, though? What if the slowness in getting guard down is because he hadn't played the position since high school?

I'm not arguing for it. Seems too risky to me at this point. It would be very ballsy, but maybe it should be considered.

I just wish we had more idea how he looked there in OTAs. I don't remember even seeing much about that. Maybe he looked good but they thought it was a waste to even use up reps there when they had such a great vet like Tyron.

You want to introduce this boy to Vita Vea in his first ever NFL game? You’re a monster.

There is no contact in OTAs so I think it's hard to really evaluate there.

This sounds completely retarded.

I'm not afraid of losing him to waivers or under any delusions that he's likely to be an impact player, but let's not pretend that he hasn't been better than Dowdle. Dowdle is mediocre at best and maybe Davis is too, but give me the better player every time.

I keep hearing how interchangeable RBs are and how you can easily pluck one off the streets if you need to, but I have yet to see them actually do it. Last season when both Zeke and Pollard were hurt there was no one available to adequately fill in so spare me the RBs grow on trees nonsense.
