Yeah because these dumbasses were going to cut Cooper if they couldn't trade him. That makes a trade go from a legit pick to a late rounder to jump from competing against other teams for the guys services. And I'm still not sure why the hell we felt like Noah Brown was a better option than Cooper. Oh yeah, 20 mil.

This season is really starting to feel like the Cowboys brass are treating it like a rebuilding season.
It's hard to decipher because they've done plenty of dumb shit over the years, but it certainly does feel like they're doing a little bit of a reset to clear the decks for a possible Payton move.

The sad thing is you have a franchise QB, you have a head coach that has won a Superbowl. You have a pretty talented defense. To just tuck tail for a year to push the reset button makes no sense to me. But Stephen and Jerry have motivations beyond winning a Superbowl Jerry loves his "relationships" above winning and Stephen well loves money.

When there is literally no chance of losing your job and you can be more than happy to take the "long view" (i.e. 20+ year view), then 1 year seems like a drop in the bucket.

Very true although it never feels that way as fans despite the fact that we also have no pressure for immediate success. I've likely got more years on the earth left than Stephen or Jerry but I feel like I've got no years to lose.

It's why in the end the only true answer is that winning isn't really that important to them.

You're giving them WAY too much credit.

It isn't, they'd like to win but they aren't desperate to because it's not their main motivation.

It's our main motivation for watching, and it's the main motivation for most front offices in the league because if they don't their jobs are on the line.

Opposing DLs are going to be fist fighting to get on the field on passing downs against the Cowboys.
We were going to have to field a short-intermediate heavy passing game without great WRs anyways.

Who was the last impactful FA OL we had? We are so obsessed with fielding home grown talent we just aren’t prepared when disaster hits

This is nauseating. We have our own Oscars. With "Blue Carpet", trophies and everything.

Did we always do this and it was done more low key and without the stupid glitz? I swear I don't remember a gala...ever.
