Eighty year olds don't think "outside the box." They're hyper cautious with their health and finances and just try to stay alive.

Based on this I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to use their 2nd to move up in the 1st, while holding onto their 3/4/5's which is where they think the "strength" of the class is.

Theoretically I think we could get all the way up to about 15ish using just our 2nd given that teams seem desperate to move down this year.

Using the 2nd to move up is a big gamble. But then again, anytime we pick guys in the second, they are risks anyways. Fuck it.

Yea, Diggs is the exception, not the rule.

I wouldn't hate it if they gave up a 2 to move up for Thibodeaux, Cross or Davis. Penning would be a bit strange to me unless they really think he's fine starting out at LG.

Just don't give up next year's first. We're not "one player away" anyway.

I don't love Cross enough to give up what should be a very good starter with the second round pick. Our history be damned. All that tells me is we need to stop fucking up in the second round.

When you do a better job drafting in the third and fourth round than you do in the second it's not a sign that you should give up your second round pick. It's a sign that you have a horrible flaw in your process that needs corrected because you're continually picking the wrong guys in the second despite having the right guys on available on your board.

I think the Cowboys are more likely to trade up in the second than in the first. Think the Tank Lawrence pick.

Ok, if you think we are trading up in the first you may want to listen to the conference. Jerry said things that make me think it's very unlikely. He mentioned having a lot of guys with high second round grades. He mentioned how trading up in the first means getting one guy instead of two in first and second (Duh). And that most of the time you want 2 players over 1.

I'm pretty convinced we will not be trading up.

Hell yes.

Let this be the draft of trading up. Trade to get the can’t-lose player we need then trade some of those 5ths to get another pick in the 3rd.

We still have the possibility of another 5-6 players making the team with less uncertainty of contributions from rounds 1 and 2.

I agree with him there. I normally hate trading up in the first few rounds. Almost never worth it unless it's super cheap.
