This isn't totally related to breaking down a pass play, Dak's reads, etc. but Troy was talking on his Ticket show yesterday about how there's too much emphasis (around the league, not just the Cowboys) on getting into the perfect play pre-snap. Talked about how the OL coach and Norv would go back and forth about "We can't block this guy, how can this play work " and Norv saying it doesn't matter, that guy has too much ground to cover. or isn't a good enough player, or can't make the play for whatever the reason anyway.

I remember when Dak first took over, there wasn't much kill killing and changing plays and running the play clock down to nothing before the snap as Romo had done. Maybe it would take some of the load off Dak's mind to simplify things and just go with the first play called more often. Some of the indecision he shows during pass plays could be he's checked into a pass play, the defense adjusts to something he doesn't like, and then he instantly checks it down. Maybe some of those plays should just remain run plays (or the original pass play) to start with.
