How in the fuck is that different?
The first would imply you still want it. The second recognizes that it is a losing situation that is set up to fail. Unless the new coach has an extremely long leash or gets very lucky then they are just getting the team through a tough spot and getting ready for the next guy to recover.

Secretly rooting for Staley. Let's see a company man try to fix Wentz.
I am too. I think McDaniels would be a disaster if I had to guess, but there's also a chance he's gotten his head out of his ass and could be a home run. Staley on the other hand I don't see anything to suggest he'd be a great or even good HC. I don't think anyone across the league in his coaching history has seriously considered him as a strong candidate other than the Eagles.
