1st - Taco with another sack, 2 tackles and a forced fumble
2nd - Awuzie with 3 tackles and 2 PBU, looked like a stud
3rd - Lewis with 3 tackles and solid coverage throughout
4th - Switzer with a punt return for a TD
5th - Woods with 3 tackles and continues to see more PT

and our honorary rookie Jaylon Smith chipped in with 5 tackles as well and is rounding into shape.

The game is on replay on NFL Network just starting right now. I plan to watch it while I'm eating lunch.

But back on topic I totally agree. This defense has a chance to be really good next year. Especially when you consider we will probably return two probowl D-lineman in Irving and Lawrence. Throw in that list of young guys you mentioned taking the next step and suddenly that unit could look really good. We really need to hit on that 2017 draft class in order for this defense to become what we all want it to and so far it looks good.

Hate to be a debbie downer but I don't think it can be stressed how bad the Redskins played last night, largely on account of their mash unit offensive line. They came into the game in terrible shape and then lost their lone staple and the juggling began. The OL got bullied. Running lanes weren't there. Cousins was rushed.

I mean, on the one hand they did the job and took over the game. Still I'm gonna need to see an ounce of consistancy against a team that isn't mangled. I have no clue on the Giants health, but if they're remotely healthy and our guys show out again then I'll start buying the hype.

IMO the young secondary has played well all year, but Taco and Switzer have been useless shitbags.

The Giants game is mostly about the offense. If our defense looks great against them it will be that they should against such a shit offense. An offense that can't run the ball and has no real passing weapons with a shit back up QB potentially.

Now if our offense can stay on track against the Giants defense I'll be thrilled. They still have plenty of talent on that side of the ball.

The Raiders will be this defenses first next real test. But I expect our defense to get better because of the young talent and Sean Lee hopefully coming back.

With Zeke we were 5-3. So if we can get healthy and sneak into the playoffs I think we have the horses to make noise if the defense is better then they were in those first 8 weeks.

There is no hype. Only a slim glimmer of hope. At least from me. We're an average team with potential to improve substantially over the final few weeks of the season.

As for Taco/Switzer, agreed, but both made plays so maybe they are finally clicking a little bit. Someone pointed out DLaw didn't get his first sack until his 8th game as a pro. So give Taco at least a year to improve before we call him a bust. Same for Switzer. I still want to see him as a receiver. Beasley seems to be taking a year off.

Washington shat the bed, and regardless it was great to see the rookies play as well as they did. For their own sakes if nothing else.

This is why it’s never appropriate to label rookies as busts after a handful of games. Players need time to develop. Very few come in and set the world on fire.

Especially DEs. There is usually a year of adjustment at least. I'm not sweating him.

Not that I ever considered him a HOFer, but Michael Strahan didn’t become a double digit sack guy until his fifth season in the league, so it takes time. Plus, Taco was only a one year starter at Michigan due to some solid depth at that position.

Especially big DEs. The speed guys just run around. But the bigger ones take a little more time to adjust. They have to get used to using leverage against NFL size.
