Detroit fires Mo Cheeks halfway through his first season. Not sure what that's all about.

I think they've underachieved as well but canning Cheeks halfway through his first season isn't the answer.

I think they have enough talent where they should at least be a 5 seed with a .500 record in the East.

Dumars had a nice run his first few years as GM but he's been pretty bad since. Especially when it's come to coach hires.

I don't think they have underachieved...the team was horribly put together. Giving Smith that big deal and having him play SF is beyond retarded.

Mavs playing decent ball thanks to Dirk and, get this.....Samuel Dalembert.

Dirk is on a tear right now. Over the last 7 games, he is averaging just under 30 points and 64% shooting.

Dalembert isn't playing lights out, but he's averaging 12 pts and 8 boards in the last 6 games and the Mavs are 17-4 when he plays at least 23 minutes.

I'm sure Cuban is going to be looking around at the trade deadline. I would love to get Rondo and I'm curious if Boston would entertain that idea.

I'm pulling for the Mavs to hang on to that 8th seed. OKC should be able to dispatch the Mavs in 4 or 5 games.

The Warriors kind of scare me because they can get hot from long range and steal a series.

The Grizzlies are a tough match up as well but if we have a healthy Westbrook at our disposal we should be able to get past them in 5 or 6.

In all honesty, now that the dream of getting into the top 7 for a shot at a falling player like Marcus Smart or Dante Exum is dead, the Bulls, with just a little more losing (and they have a tough schedule coming up), could realistically end up with like, 12 and 14. They just need Charlotte to slip out of that 8 seed too.

Then they could realistically get a shot at say, James Young and Rodney Hood. That would be a nice haul.

Yeah, this would be my new plan for the Bulls.

Lose just a littttttle bit more. And have the Bobcats also miss the playoffs just barely.

Get like, the 12th and 14th picks.

Preliminarily: Trade Mike Dunleavy Jr for a pick next year, and amnesty Carlos Boozer. Let Hinrich walk.

Draft two wings. In this sick draft, there are going to be very, very nice wing players in the teens. Let's say one SF type and one SG type.

SF: Dario Saric (Croatia) or Rodney Hood (Duke). Both can hit threes.
SG: James Young (UK), Zach LaVine (UCLA) or Nik Stauskas (Michigan).

After that, you've got about 12 million in cap room. Sign Mirotic for the MLE, and then make a run at Pau Gasol in free agency.

Roster:

Derrick Rose/DJ Augustin/Mike James
James Young*/Tony Snell
Jimmy Butler/Rodney Hood*
Taj Gibson/Nikola Mirotic/Erik Murphy
Joakim Noah/Pau Gasol

Sick. That team competes hard and punishes Miami up front, yet has the shooting to keep up on the scoreboard with Mirotic and the rookies all capable three point threats.

Can't believe there are still people out there who consider the Spurs legitimate title contenders. I just read the latest 5 on 5 on ESPN.com and one of the writers is still clinging to the notion that a healthy Spurs team can beat OKC and come out of the West. Skip Bayless has pretty much echoed those same sentiments.

Here's the thing, and Charles Barkley said it best, older players don't get better/healthy, they get injured. I know the Spurs have some young pieces but they guys who they are counting on to do the heavy lifting come playoff time are either old or have a lot of mileage on their legs.

Also, aside from 1 win against the Chris Paul-less Clippers team, have the Spurs actually beaten a top contender in the Western Conference. OKC has beat them 3 times already with the last game to be played in OKC.

I think the Clippers and the Rockets are the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the West, IMO. I don't think the Spurs could beat either of those teams in a playoff series.

I'm watching Phoenix and Miami and they just flashed Goran Dragic's numbers from the past 7 games, that dude has been tearing it up.

He's averaging 26.7 ppg on 63% FG, 63% 3PT, & about 6 assists and 4 rebounds.

I'm surprised he didn't get Western Conference Player of the Week honors. They ended up giving it to Durant instead.

Michael Jordan's wife gave birth to twin daughters today.

I had no idea he was having more kids. That dude is over 50. He's going to have kids in the house until the day he dies.

Cialis is a hell of a drug.

Of all the teams that would be considered legitimate contenders in the West, San Antonio is the one team the Rockets have done well against.

I don't know if that means they're better than San Antonio, but I'd like their chances in that series.
