As a 15-20 snap pass rush specialist? Yes I think he could definitely help. Maybe a lot.

Yeah...a couple games under his belt before going into the playoffs, and 15-20 snaps I believe would be a difference at some point. If nothing else his speed would alter some QB runs and/or throws.

I would love for the team to have some help with some help on the pass rush but I don't see how it will come from this guy.

According to Broaddus he's been working with the strength and conditioning coaches all along and should be able to hit the ground running.

Yeah he has been allowed to workout with the team this entire time. Which of course should not be confused with practicing with the team. These two 2 weeks were supposed to allow him to practice with the team to get himself in shape to be able to play once the suspension ended. Instead the league determined that they weren't going to allow that.

Maybe another violation is coming down the pike.

That's really the only explanation I can think of.

But then, if there is another suspension coming, I'd assume he'd appeal it. And since these appeals take a couple months to resolve, he should be able to play the remaining season including playoffs. "Should."

That is unless Goodell speeds the process up.

Yeah I think there is clearly something going on behind the scenes, I'm just not sure exactly what it is yet.

I tend too agree. If the practice exemption is routine and almost automatic it would seem there is a fly in the ointment somewhere for the League office to refuse same.

Differing information on Randy Gregory leads to confusion

FRISCO, Texas -- At one point Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys thought Randy Gregory would be able to practice on Wednesday. By the close of business Tuesday, the NFL informed the team the suspended defensive end would not be allowed to practice.

“We’ve had different information on that over the last couple of days, over the last couple of weeks,” coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday. “Again we’re just focused on our guys. He’s not going to practice today.”

Currently, Gregory is eligible to return to the active roster on Dec. 19 as he finishes a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. He missed the first four games of the season for failing a number of tests in 2015.

The Cowboys had hopes he would be allowed a two-week practice exemption before the suspension ended, which would have him in better game-shape to potentially play Dec. 26 against the Detroit Lions.

Garrett would not get into whether the NFL needs to alter the open-ended nature of how it penalizes players. There have been reports Gregory is facing another suspension, which could lead to a one-year ban, after the current penalty ends. However, sources said the Cowboys have not received any word from the league.

Garrett said Gregory is doing well as he takes part in meetings and works out with the strength and conditioning coaches. He said Gregory has added some bulk to his frame. Gregory played in 12 games last year as a rookie but did not record a sack. He did have 16 quarterback pressures.
