"I haven't changed my opinion of how exciting a player that he is, how unique a player that he is. And he plays a unique position. We have an old adage in talent evaluation, if you see them do it a couple times, they can do it. Now, will they have the discipline and the will to go out there and do it day in and day out, do like a Peyton Manning and make a career out of doing it every day. That hasn't been shown."

I felt Manziel projected to be a seriously under-talented buffoon in the NFL back in 2014 and wouldn't have drafted him in any round. I am on record as saying so, and a bunch of people wanted him.

I truly felt some team might look him up in the 3rd round because famous prospects always have a way of making some team jump, but I thought he didn't make sense at all.

I was shocked he went in the 1st round and was terrified Jones would take him because Jones is a fool. I felt he was less physically talented than even Tim Tebow who's mechanics were terrible but at least was strong enough to be a playmaker. When your best attribute as a QB is "shiftiness", just forget it.

Of course I was proven right.

Jones just digging a deeper hole by trying to cover his previous idiotic "evaluation" of Manziel.

It's hilarious how teams have blatantly used Johnny Manziel as a smokescreen and many of you just fell for it.

Jaws was right that this guy will likely fall into the 3rd round.

As I just said a couple of posts ago, I thought he would fall into the 3rd round and I wouldn't have drafted him in ANY round.

I saw him as a flash in the pan guy also but one still has to wonder what he could have been if he actually took his career serious.

"We have an old saying in talent evaluation."

Yea, right.

I honestly think that Stephen, McClay, Garrett and the scouts are making most of the decisions at this point and just let this guy blather on about nothing while mostly ignoring him.

I mean honestly, who here thinks Jerry has any clue who Benson Mayowa is?

Hell, even Patrick Robinson?

Combine all that with the fact that we haven't shown the slightest hint of interest in RG3 or Manziel aside from Jerry's ramblings and I think you can see what's going on here.

Manziel didn't fail because of talent. He failed because he is batshit crazy. It's easy to thump one's chest and say they were right about Manziel but the truth is the mental stability of a player is basically impossible for us to know as fans. We just have to trust the scouts and general managers opinions with that aspect. I guess with Manziel we had some clues but most of us had no idea he was a wife beats who literally couldn't control himself from day to day.

I knew someone was going to blame his mentality for his failure, but the guy could barely grip the football and literally looked like a kid out there. Sooner or later he was going to get crushed.

Unreal how his ability to awkwardly heave a ball into coverage and have Mike Evans catch it in spite of everything made people thing this kid could actually play with the big boys. Absolutely ridiculous that a 6', 209 pound (soaking wet) kid with no arm could succeed at the highest level.

Probably because he won more games last year then any of our backups with the leagues worst supporting cast. And probably because you keep making stuff up about his arm strength and now ability to grip a football. The guy has physical talent. The ONLY reason he isn't with the Browns is because of off the field stuff. And some NFL team will probably still give him another chance eventually.

More Jerry...

More Jerry...

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called the connections between CTE and football “absurd” on Tuesday.

Jones told reporters there was not enough data to establish a relationship between the degenerative brain disease, linked to repeated hits to the head, and the game of football.

Last week, NFL senior vice president for health and safety Jeff Miller said that there was “certainly” a link between football and CTE, which has been found in the brains of numerous former professional football players postmortem.

Miller testified before the House of Representatives and was asked by Illinois congresswoman Jan Schakowsky whether he thinks “there is a link between football and degenerative brain disorders like CTE.”

Last week, the NFL released a statement through spokesman Brian McCarthy addressing Miller’s comments.

“He was discussing Dr. McKee's findings and made the additional point that a lot more questions need to be answered,” McCarthy said, reerencing Boston University neuropathologist Ann McKee. “He said that the experts should speak to the state of the science.”

I hated Manziel from the get because he seemed like a spoiled bitch, in no way would I have predicted this kind of meltdown. I just thought he'd fail to live up to his potential. Obviously once the Browns drafted him, I knew he was ruined. I don't think anyone saw this coming though.

You realize our own supporting cast was just as bad as his. Comparing him to the jackasses we fielded is the very definition of a poor standard.

Cleveland won games against the Titans and a tanking 49ers team and I don't have much respect for the QB'ing skills I saw.
