I was a big fan of Manziel coming out of the draft, but I would agree with you.

Neither guy is ever gonna be a franchise QB, but RG3 could be a serviceable starter. He simply needs an attitude adjustment.

But Manziel? I think he's a lost cause who is never going to get it. He's one of those guys like Josh Gordon that don't care about jeopardizing their career. They simply refuse to stop doing whatever it is they're doing no matter the consequence.

As Jimmy Johnson says..."I don't care what issues they have so long as I can reason with them"

Well, you can't reason with a guy like Manziel, so it's best to avoid him altogether.
Manziel does seem like a lost cause and I don't think the Dallas nightlife is going to help him rehabilitate. Don't want RGIII either.

We do need a backup QB, but it if Romo goes down for an extended time again you can hang it up even if the backup wins 40-50% of the games. In a 4-6 week period that may salvage a season but not long term like this year. Obviously 1-9 isn't going to cut it but that was more a reflection of the coaching and game plan. No way we should've only won 10% of the games even with the backup QB's we had.

Looking at the list of FA QB's there's not much out there but I don't see Manziel or RGIII going 5-5 or better had they been here. And we definitely don't need the drama or media circus. Now if I had to choose between the two I'd go with RGIII. But I have a feeling either of them may make us forego a QB in the 1st. If that's not the case then I could live with him as a backup because there isn't much else out there. But I have a feeling it would make JJ and the front office decided to go with the more immediate starter and then maybe waste a 2nd on a QB. So I'd rather just sign someone like Colt McCoy or whatever while drafting the best QB we can get.

So who does everyone want as a backup QB who will be better then Manziel or RGIII?

Gee, I dunno. So we can avoid either one?

Give me the rookie fourth pick over either dipshit.

There aren't a lot of good FA options for backup QB. The deal is, seeing how even Weeden could win some games for Houston, the problem wasn't necessarily the backup. He was good enough to win a few games with a decent coaching staff and game plan. Like I said above, we're screwed if with any backup if he has to fill in for the majority of the season.

I'd rather draft a top QB and sign someone like Fitzgerald, Chase Daniel or Colt McCoy than deal with the drama of Manziel/RGIII. Not to mention JJ probably thinking one of them could be a borderline starter and then opt to pass on a top QB in the draft.

If you want a top QB out of the draft, you had better hope we don't do much in FA, especially signing a high marquee QB.

Get either one of these two, we're done.

Yep. We are high fiving each other and assuming that need was filled.

Even if you don't consider yourself very political, there's a new campaign some Dallas Cowboys fans surely can get behind.

A website called "bringjohnny2dallas" just surfaced, and its hope is to get Johnny Manziel in a Cowboys uniform. Or perhaps to make a quick buck. Or both.

The website states, "We need to bring the greatest quarterback to grace God's country, Texas, back to Texas! Johnny is a quarterback that can bring some spark back to 'Merica's Team."

To show support, folks can sign an online petition and buy a $15 T-shirt. Manziel appears to be on the way out in Cleveland after off-the-field issues the past month boiled over, including a allegation that he appeared at the team facility under the influence.

The Cowboys, who started four quarterbacks this season, are in need of a long-term answer under center. Unquestioned started Tony Romo, who turns 36 in April, played in just four games this year because of injuries.

Manziel was considered by the Cowboys in the 2014 draft, as owner Jerry Jones was quite taken with the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner.
Dallas Morning News columnist Tim Cowlishaw wrote earlier this month that talk of Manziel joining the Cowboys isn't foolish.

"It seems obvious he would prefer to play in Dallas," Cowlishaw wrote. "But would that allow Johnny Manziel, the person, to mature or would it send Johnny Football, the party animal, the opposite direction while simply making traffic on McKinney Ave. worse for the rest of us?
"The Cowboys need to do more than an exhaustive film study on Manziel. They must determine if the person is ready to grow up and become more than a celebrity sighting at the blackjack table."

Okay, we need our IT specialists on this board to go to that site and take it down. Do whatever it takes. The owners of the DCC got your back if you get into legal trouble. :unsure

If they draft Treadwell and take a low risk chance on Manziel, I think that would be worthwhile. If Romo shits the bed and Manziel doesn't have what it takes, it would be a good situation for a veteran like Rivers or Stafford to come in afterward. Of course, a top QB with pick #4 wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I guess the difficult thing is that if we don't want draft a QB I want to sign as good of a backup QB during free agency as possible. That means probably RGIII. The problem is the draft comes after free agency so we will have to make a decision about a veteran QB before we make a decision on drafting a QB. The good news is sitting at 4 in the draft we should have a pretty good idea of how we feel about Goff, Wentz and Lynch and if we have a shot at drafting any of them.

There is nothing worthwhile about bringing Manfail in under any condition. The guy can't play and is an immature alcoholic. Fuck him.

Cleveland Browns VP says Manziel has 'chance to be' with team in 2016; staff will be 'watching closely'

By Brandon Wheeland , Special Contributor Contact Brandon Wheelandon Twitter:mad:BrandonWheeland

Cleveland Browns new executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown spoke on the ongoing saga of Johnny Manziel, addressing the video of the quarterback's recent visit to Dallas and expressing his concern.

"I haven't seen them," Brown said according to cleveland.com, "but I would care about it just because I want all of our guys to represent themselves well and be responsible in terms of their behavior off the field."

The end of the last season was rocky for the Browns' 2014 first-round selection. Manziel battled and earned the starting quarterback role in Cleveland, showing flashes of brilliance during his time on the field. Unfortunately his time off the field was widely publicized and full of behavior that the Browns' organization takes exception to, and now Manziel's football future is up in the air.

While there have been a multitude of stories authored and rumors started that end with Johnny Football calling AT&T Stadium home next year as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, the only certainty is that he will be a member of the Browns' at least until March when the new league year begins.

In his time with the media, Brown did not commit to Manziel long-term, or even go as far as to guarantee the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner would be with the team in 2016.

"Yea, I think absolutely he's a got a chance to be here,'' Brown said. "He's got a chance to be here.''

Given that the starting quarterback is typically the face of a franchise and the Browns spent a first-round pick on Manziel just a short time ago, having only a "chance" to hang on to likely doesn't bode well for his long term future with the team. With the front office and coaching staff adjusting to a new look as well, there are plenty of eyes now on the former A&M QB.

"Johnny's got a new coaching staff that I'm sure will be watching closely in Hue Jackson and Pep Hamilton and he's got that opportunity,'' said Brown. "He's certainly got the capacity and it's just on him to do it.''
