I still have issues with Paul, mainly that his ideology sometimes takes a backseat when he needs to pander.but I respect a lot of his work in the senate.

But a guy like Ron or Rand Paul isn't ever going to make it in the Republican Party. They've made that abundantly clear.
I don't really care about the pandering. To me actions speak louder then words and the actions of what he has done in the Senate is what is most important. I have a pretty good idea of what principals are actually important to him. One of my favorite parts is his desire to actually streamline our tax system and make it efficient. What bothers me about the other candidates is that their tax plans seem to only make the system more complicated and inefficient.

Honestly, who thought that Donald Trump would ever be a legit candidate? I've stopped worrying about polls at this point. I just know who should be nominated. But instead everyone will worry about a candidates opinion on abortion or gay marriage, two things that we know won't change. Gay marriage is here to stay just like abortion.

I 1000% blame Fox News for the shift of Republicans away from conservatism and towards rage. MSNBC is as bad, butI've never met an old person that keeps MSNBC on in their house all day.

I remember when my dad first started watching Fox News. I couldn't talk to him about politics for years because he was dead certain roving bands of Muslims were going to come for him any day. That's not hyperbole, he was waiting for the day that armies of Muslims marched on Castroville Texas.

Now cable news is the lens through which we evaluate prospective candidates, and Trump might as well be Fox News incarnate.

Maybe this will address everyone. Do you believe everything he says? Do you think most people believes everything he says? Do you believe he will be the Republican candidate? Do you think he will be elected President? If the answer is no to all these then why get worked up about what he says?

Some of the countries would probably be uncomfortable if they thought he was possibly going to get in office.

Anyone remember when Jimmy Carter banned entry to all Iranians?

Rand Paul is the best candidate by far in my opinion. Unfortunately I doubt he will be the Republican nominee. Hilary and Bernie are beyond scary options. A socialist and the least trustworthy politician imaginable.
How is Hillary less trustworthy than Trump?

That was people from a certain country who we had specific issues with as opposed to religion-based which would encompass a far greater range of people.

Ever heard of false equivalency?

The obvious difference between Trump’s plan and Carter’s historical actions is that the Carter administration targeted nationality, not a professed religion or ideology. But the Carter administration also took those factors into account when determining whether or not Iranians were allowed to enter or stay in the United States.

A Washington Post report dated from 1980 said that the Carter would only revalidate visa issued to Iranians based upon “compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest requires.” In clarifying this statement, the Carter administration’s State Department said that “concern about religious or political persecution in Iran would be viewed as a valid humanitarian reason for revalidating the visas of those now being barred from the United States.”

MSNBC is nothing like Fox News, yes it leans heavily left but they don't rant and rave all day about the evils of the right.

They actually give voice to republican ideas and when a conservative is on they don't shout them down and try to embarras them.

There highest rated show Morning Joe is anchored by a former Republican Congressman who has huge issues with Obama, there nothing like that on Fox News.

I watch a lot of both because I want to see what is upsetting Republicans at the moment and sometimes there are actual things I have missed that I need to take a closer look at but 90% of the time it's just straight pandering.

Also the smugness factor is way higher on Fox.

I'll raise you, Hillary, Sanders, Chafee, Webb.
Raise? No no dear. Trump, Carson, and Fiorinna are an absolute freak show. Keep in mind I've spent my entire life voting against democrats, and can rail against Hillary by muscle memory at this point.

But that's no comparison to a bunch of weirdos who never held elected office, and have been demonstrably, hilariously ignorant when asked to demonstrate knowledge on foreign policy.

You're going to raise me over Trump? The guy who's literally matching Hitler's rhetoric in the 21st century? I would hope your Republican ass would vote for a democrat over Trump.

Trump is a clown, but even he isn't a socialist clown. If it's Hillary vs Trump i'll likely sit it out.
