If Ware is willing to take a deal around 3-5 million a year do we sign him as a free agent next offseason for a year or two?

He is clearly just a pass rushing specialist at his age, but if he can come in and give us 25 or so snaps a game isn't that worth it?

We wanted Freeney this past offseason and Ware is younger and better, I realize alot of people might not want to feel like they're going back in time, but this wouldn't be anything sentimental, he'd fill a legit hole.

Obviously DE should be priority number 1 in the draft but it usually takes young pass-rushers a year or two to develop, so if we could get Ware for a price like that I think it's a no-brainer. I also think the Broncos likely let him go with Ray looking like he's ready for a bigger role.
I wish we had never let him go. Him or Newman for that matter.

I was right there with you until you included Windmill Newman.

Newman has been pretty good since he has been gone. We could definitely use him.

I rarely watch any other NFL games besides Dallas, but the times I've seen him he's been getting torched just like the old days...waving his arms and barking at others.

Newman was always a solid DB. The biggest problem for most was that he could not be anything short of spectacular because of his draft position. Fans are pretty intolerant about how the draft number should dictate performance. Actually if every draft pick players had a solid performance there would still be malcontents about the pick number. To me once they are on the team every pick should be performing well. The number they were drafted is irrelevant except to control contract salaries.

I liked Newman, I wasn't on the Suggs train. Epic discussions at the ole ESPN board. He is better than some of the guys we have had over the years. Certainly would be useful now.

Suggs would be more useful :).

I agree Newman gets a bad rap here, but Suggs is clearly the better player.

True, and he wouldn't have been a better pick instead of going with Newman.
I argued with some here that at the top of the draft quality matters more than position. Others were adamant that CB's were "bit players" by comparison to the front line guys, which was extreme and lacked credibility.

IMO if the talent is equal (rare) and the need based on team makeup is equal (almost as rare) then sure you go DL.

Bottom line is defenses need talent at every level and at the time the Cowboys had two 1st round picks at DE, a 4-3 lineup, and nothing at CB. Terrell Suggs was better suited as a 3-4 OLB than a traditional 4-3 DE and Kevin Williams wasn't graded as high as Newman.

So I didn't have a problem with the Newman pick at the time, but in hindsight clearly Suggs was the right pick. Hard to see how you dispute that.

HWSNBN stated that a punter is more valuable.

As much as I would like to see the Packers crash and burn, I cannot root for the Eagles.

Still crazy to see a playoff hopes graphic and Dallas is at the top left versus bottom right.
