Good for him. I hope it goes for well for him.

But it will be interesting to see what this does to his draft stock. Teams may not want to risk a high pick with all the drama that's sure to follow.

I sure as shit wouldn't mind if this drops him to us in the 4th or so, he should go in the late 2nd-3rd area I think.

The whole Manti Teo stuff was more disturbing than this and he was drafted in round two. No story here, I hope.

I don't feel like any player needs to announce their sexual preference but I also don't believe they should feel as though they have to hide anything. I've liked him as a potential pass rush specialist and I still like him as a potential pass rush specialist. The sad thing is I could see Jerry drafting him now because it would be a huge PR move for the franchise. I hope this doesn't become a bunch of media bullshit during the draft but you know it will.

I don't give a shit if he sucks off horses, if he can help my team win, I want him on my team.

Hopefully this is a non-story. I think for most of the players it will be. The good old boy front office\coaches network might not be so comfortable with it though

The MMQB's Peter King spoke to one NFL General Manager who does not expect Missouri edge rusher Michael Sam to be drafted.

"We talked about it this week," the GM said of Sam's sexual orientation. "First of all, we don’t think he’s a very good player. The reality is he’s an overrated football player in our estimation. Second: He’s going to have expectations about where he should be drafted, and I think he’ll be disappointed." The general manager went on to say that he thinks the news will impact the locker room of the team that selects Sam. It is worthwhile to note that this is just one decision maker, and others do not necessarily share the same sentiment.
___

So what was his draft stock before this? I thought he was supposed to be a 3-4th rounder.

One general manager told Bleacher Report that Sam will be a true test of whether the NFL is actually open to all kinds of players. He believes that if Sam falls past the third round, then "something stinks. Because this guy is easily a high-rounder."

Did you expect anything different?

We always knew that when a player finally admitted he was gay, it was going to be a really big deal with the media.
