To clarify, apparently according to Jay Glazer, Johnson is claiming he tested positive for an amino acid from a supplement that was supposed to be acceptable. Something like that. And he is appealing. Sounds like another BS PED excuse to me.

Lane Johnson says positive test stems from approved supplement

Posted by Michael David Smith on August 9, 2016, 3:05 PM EDT

After reports surfaced that Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson was facing a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances, he told reporters that “nothing is going on.” Now Johnson is acknowledging a failed test but claiming it stems from a supplement he had approval to take.

Johnson told Jay Glazer of FOX Sports that he took an amino acid that was approved. It’s unclear who told Johnson the supplement was approved, but Johnson insists he was told the supplement he was taking is permitted under NFL rules.

Johnson also said he is waiting on the B sample from his PED test, but if Johnson knows he took the supplement that has the substance in question, it’s hard to see why the B sample would provide a different result than the A sample.

The NFL tells players they’re responsible for the substances in their bodies, but exceptions are sometimes made. Texans tackle Duane Brown, for instance, tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol but successfully appealed when he demonstrated that he had receipts showing he had eaten beef in Mexico, where the substance is sometimes given to cattle.

Now Johnson will have to hope he can provide evidence that a supplement he used was wrongly labeled, and that the NFL believes the presence of a banned substance in his body was not his fault.

He'll get off.

Carson Wentz with a fractured rib.

:lol
He takes some big time hits because of his questionable pocket awareness/ability to manipulate the pocket. He took some huge ones at NDSU and has a tendency to kind of jump into the hits where his whole body is off the ground.

Did the same thing the other night and this is what you get being in the NFL as opposed to bumfuck North Dakota.

NFLPA: Lane Johnson made “factually inaccurate” statement on tainted supplement

Posted by Michael David Smith on August 13, 2016, 2:45 PM EDT

Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson is facing a 10-game suspension for taking a banned substance that he says was in a supplement that the NFL Players Association had approved for players to take. The NFLPA says that’s not the case.

Johnson said the app the NFLPA has for players to get information on supplements had told him that he could take the supplement without running afoul of the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. But NFLPA spokesman George Atallah says Johnson is wrong, and wrong to say that the NFLPA isn’t helping its members.

“We always stand up for the rights of our players,” Atallah said in a statement. “Mr. Johnson’s statements are factually inaccurate and we have been in touch with both Lane and his agent, who now understand the facts. The NFLPA does not approve any supplements or substances.”

Although the NFLPA does use the app to help players check the list of ingredients on supplement labels against the list of banned substances, that doesn’t necessarily mean taking a supplement will be safe as far as league policy is concerned. Supplements sometimes contain substances not listed on the labels, and the NFL reserves the right to hold players responsible for anything in their bodies, even if they ingest a substance accidentally.

“We constantly remind all players that even if a supplement is ‘checked green’ the supplement provider may not list certain ingredients therein that a player can test positive for,” Atallah said. “For several years, the NFLPA has provided a free service to every NFL player who wishes to have us test a supplement they send to us and this service was offered to Lane.”

Johnson has previously served a four-game suspension for a first violation of the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy. He is now appealing his second violation. If that appeal is unsuccessful, he will be suspended for 10 games.

:lol

The app is to blame.
