Damn good question. Kyle Shanahan had been rumored to be the frontrunner and all of a sudden this pops up.
Random 4-3 defensive coordinator to coach a team with a vaunted 3-4 defense and an offense that needs help. Makes perfect sense.

Joseph went to college with some guy in Denver's front office, nobody ever said the NFL was a meritocracy.

I mean what has the guy ever done that's been impressive?

Was the DC of a mediocre defense for a year and he was a decent DB coach for a few years before that.

If it wasn't for the Rooney rule he probably wouldn't even be a consideration.

Not an impressive resume and a piss poor fit on top of that. Maybe he will be a fine walking coach but he better have great coordinators to carry all the real weight.

Gus Bradley interviewing with Redskins Wednesday

Posted by Josh Alper on January 11, 2017, 3:18 PM EST

Shortly after the Redskins decided to part ways with defensive coordinator Joe Barry, Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reported that former Jaguars coach Gus Bradley was at the top of the list of candidates to fill the position in 2017.

John Keim of ESPN.com reports that Bradley is interviewing for the job on Wednesday. The Redskins also interviewed former Browns head coach Mike Pettine earlier this week and have reportedly requested permission to interview Panthers defensive backs coach Steve Wilks.

Bradley worked in Seattle when Redskins General Manager Scot McCloughan was in the Seahawks organization and was on the Buccaneers staff from 2006-2008 when head coach Jay Gruden was an offensive assistant in Tampa. He spent four years as the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks before becoming the head coach in Jacksonville in 2013.

Early in the coaching search process, there were reports that Bradley would join Anthony Lynn’s staff if Lynn got a head coaching job. Lynn was reportedly an early frontrunner to go from interim head coach to the permanent choice in Buffalo, but Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott is having a second interview with the team that’s expected to end with him getting the job as Rex Ryan’s replacement.

That doesn't concern me at all.

Bradley is a solid coordinator, probably not as good as Wade though, and they'll have to switch from a 3-4 to 4-3.

Not the wisest move when it's very possible that the coaching staff is cleared out if they don't make the playoffs next season.

At the end of the day it all comes down to talent and the Redskins have basically nothing except Kerrigan, Murphy, Smith, Norman and maybe Cravens. And it's quite possible that Murphy and Smith only end up as one year wonders and aren't actually foundation pieces.

Kubiac to leave Denver for health reasons.

Has to be the most attractive job out there.

Linehan will bring Romo :unsure
Linehan might be a good fit for them. I might not mind it if we replace him with a more run-oriented offensive coordinator.

Yeah I think Gus could be a solid defensive coordinator but it seems like a really poor fit for the Skins. I dont think their talent can come anywhere close to helping them replicate the success Bradley had with the Seahawks.

Suddenly not as great of a destination for Romo.
I don't know about that. I'm sure he is going to want to win right away in Denver regardless. If they don't do something big at QB there is no way that team doesn't take several steps backwards.

Houston is the perfect spot for Romo, no clue whether or not Jerry would have an issue with sending him to an in-state team or if the Texans would be willing to pay him presumably 15-20 a year with that Osweiler contract.
