No way. People were pissed at where Tony Dixon was drafted and how badly he sucked for being a 2nd rounder. Skyler Green was touted by the front office as some remarkable return man/WR. And he sucked, too.
Yeah Skyler was a special teams guy, I dont remember there ever being hype that he was anything else.

I don't recall that. At least not out of line with their draft positioning. Dixon was a second round pick.

I think we are looking for out-of-nowhere guys, late round picks and UDFAs, who got overhyped based on some preseason or practice reports.

PS, Kalen Thornton.
Overhyped regardless of draft position is what I thought we were shooting for.

They both still caused a stir in TC and then didn't live up to the hype. Or, at least to the fans and FO they did. I thought that was the exercise here.

The only stir Tony Dixon ever caused was because he sucked. Badly. There was never any hype over him for being something other than a horrible reach.

All he does is remind me of how terrible our drafts used to be.

Ryan Fowler, though I don't know if he was too successful for this.
Kalen Thornton
DT Thomas Johnson
Reshard Lee as already stated
Jamaica Rector
Oliver Hoyte
Derek Ross -- not preseason but I was so mad when they cut him.
Woody Dantzler
Char-ron Dorsey
Ken-Yon Rambo - may have been too successful
John Nix and his trashcan of dirt

This seemed like a good idea at the time.

How about one of Jason Garrett giving up his role of the robot in Lost in Space to coach the Cowboys.

Browsing through the web, I just re-realized that Dan Bailey and Chris Jones were both UDFA's in 2011. That 2011 draft is pretty nice looking back now...Tyron, DeMarco,Dwayne Harris in the 6th, and both of our kickers as UDFA. Also Tysson Poots.

I forget the name of the QB that was supposed to turn into our next great WR/KR with the body tattoo... 4th rounder as per usual.
