Plus weather. It's just a hunch, but I bet there's a pretty strong correlation between QBs passer rating (especially away QBs) and temperature.
Yea, I mean Derek Carr, the other young hotshot MVP candidate just had almost a carbon copy of a game against Kansas City going 17/41 for 117 yards and no TD's or INT's.

That's why this Tampa game will really be telling to me, they have a decent enough defense but it's not dominant and the conditions are more or less ideal for a big bounce back game from Dak.

Yeah that stadium is known for being windy.

I am not going to lie he looked genuinely panicked in this game but the real surprise to me is that it took this long for him to show it.
Even still, he hit Dez for a first down on 3rd and 6 late in the game that could've sparked a game-tying, if not game-winning drive. The play to Williams right before the half was big too, if we were a yard closer that's a 3 point play.

Of course his poor pocket presence and decision making cost us 3 earlier in the first half.

It's a fallacy that Dak cannot hurt you deep and that ruins everything else in your thesis.

He just hurt Minny deep and could have had a play to butler for a long TD.

Saying he cannot hurt you deep sounds like he does not have the arm strength which anybody can see he does.

QB's across the league are putting up stinkers over the last couple of weeks, let's give some credit to the defenses we have played instead of going to the worst case scenario.
Deep entails more than just a 40 yard pass to a single covered WR. Of course Dak has arm strength to buck the ball when he sees single coverage. Maybe I should clarify to intermediate. Dak doesn't threaten 15-25 yards downfield and the gaps between the safeties and LBers have squeezed smaller. LBers are closer to the line of scrimmage as well, Also hampering Dak's scrambling opps.

Combine that with Dak being careful with throwing WRs open versus being 'college open' and our 1st half efficient offense is severely compromised.

People give him shit for the 2 INTs, but I don't think much of it. One was a stupid desperate throw that isn't a trending concern. The other was Dez falling down, not a bad rookie read or something.

He had a dislocated finger.

Dak can throw deep. He just doesn't do it very often. He's a lot like Alex Smith now or Russell Wilson from a few years ago.

Had it the week before when they scored nearly 40 on Buffalo too.

I think what Ravi is saying about Dak can't hurt you deep is that he doesn't have a chemistry with the verticle receivers yet. True he can complete a long pattern on occasion but the The two deep pattern receivers and him are not on the same page most of the time. That only comes with reps and play calling which are still being limited by Linehan. The verticle passing game just isn't reliable yet.

One team has beat us this season. One. Unless and until we see the Giants again, Im not concerned.

But taken with the Giants game a pattern of how to beat the Cowboys has emerged. Something similar happened in 1995. The 49ers doubled covered Michael Irvin and put Jerry Rice in the slot and the team seemed to shut down. Then we lost Ray Donaldson and teams started mimicking the 49ers' adjustment.

We lost to the 49ers, Washington, Eagles, and nearly the Giants before stomping Arizona after Aikman discovered that Kevin Williams could catch passes too. That team was very poorly coached unlike this team so far.

Dak needs that same adjustment, and the coaches have to help him find it.

I have a feeling Terrance Williams is ready to break out and is our way through this slump.
I was thinking the same thing about Williams. He definitely seemed like the guy NYG dared us to beat them with.

Yeah, the cold in New York was having a massive impact on everyone in that game. It caused fumbles, drops, slips and honestly I think both QBs were struggling to grip the ball.

It also doesn't help them I'm not sure Dak has ever played football with snow on the ground.
We should have just deflated the balls a little. What could go wrong?

He looked panicked in parts of about 4 previous games so it didn't take this long to show it. I kept thinking he would recover like he did in the prior but for the first time he didn't.

There were plenty of what ifs in both games and it is probably a little bit of trending to the mean on these type of plays.

We had been on a hell of a roll, it was time to hit a couple of rough spots as a team and for Dak.

I don't agree he looked panicked in those other games, I think he looked confused and he eventually figured things out.

IMO in this game it was the 1st he went from confused to panicked and got progressively worse which is a big difference to me.

Jerry's comments yesterday will just fuel the fire.

So we face a defense in Tampa Bay that has been playing well and turning the ball over. The offensive gameplan will be so conservative, and Dak so conscious of making a mistake, that fans will be screaming for Romo by halftime.

And by fans, I mean Jerry. 11-2, and the dysfunction comes roaring to the surface.

What were his comments? I missed them.
Jones, when asked for a scenario in which quarterback Tony Romo would play this season, made reference to the Supreme Court's 1964 ruling on pornography.

"I don't have a definition for it, but you'll know it when you see it," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Tuesday. "It's kind of like definition I heard one time of another issue trying to define a negative topic, and they said, 'I don't know how to say it, but it's just something that when you see it, you know it's there.' We'll see it."

DC sports radio gleefully discussing what such a scenario would be and looking forward to the shots of Jerry in his box on Sunday getting on the headset to Jason to tell him "it's time."

At this point you stick with Dak. He's the future. Romo is done and would be very rusty at best.
Dak has led us to the great record we have. Nuff said.

Welcome to the board, and I agree.

If Dak can't take some blabber from crazy grandpa Jerry, he's a lot more weak willed than anyone thought.

The whole team's on his side including Romo, this is a guy who had ice water in his veins all year, I don't see him losing confidence.
