Cowboys OT Chaz Green slowed by herniated disc, surgery possibility

FRISCO —

Dallas Cowboys swing tackle Chaz Green has been diagnosed with a herniated disc in his back, but is going to try and play through it down the stretch.

Green practiced on a limited basis Wednesday and is hoping to progress throughout the week. He is still hoping to be an option for the Cowboys at some point this season.

“It’s something I’m trying to work through,” Green said. “Given the time of the season, obviously it needs time but I don’t have that, so just trying to see if it’s something I can work through.”

Green opened the season as the swing tackle and started two games at left tackle with Tyron Smith sidelined with a back injury. Green started a Week 3 game against Chicago and again in Week 4 at San Francisco, a game in which he injured his foot.

The foot has fully healed for Green, but the back injury is what’s slowed him of late. Green acknowledged that he may have to undergo back surgery in the offseason.

“I’m not trying to think like that,” Green said. “I mean, it’s a possibility, but I’m not thinking like that. I’m just trying to stay positive, try to make sure I can calm it down and see if I can work through it.”

Green, a 2015 third-round pick out of Florida, has battled injuries throughout his career. He didn’t play as a rookie after undergoing hip surgery before the season.

Feh.

Just shut his candy ass down.

They better look at an OT reasonably early in April is all I have to say.

I just don't get this team.

Decent OTs and blocking TEs are available in Madden all the time.

They should have started looking after his pussy started hurting six weeks ago.

Right now, there isn't even shit available.

That's the big problem with the organization. They keep "hope" alive far more than they should.

It is the one flaw that holds this organization back.

Pathological optimism.

It will always be in place as long as Jerry is alive.

He was finally showing a little something this year. Just too brittle and going to force is to try and find a OT sooner than probably expected.

Meanwhile the starting tackle has been playing through a bad back all season.

Yep. People can talk about how Stephen is more in control now, but this motherfucker still can't stay out of the way, and it shows. It's infuriating.

Jaylon and Dunbar don't even belong in the same conversation. Dunbar is a no talent turd.
I think the key here is "Jerry pumping" optimism that will never translate to real life performance on the field.

Quick...go look outside. I believe the hater in you is getting a visit from the shiny red PT Barnum Jerry chariot.

I wanted Jay Ajayi instead of this useless piece of shit, I would've also been very happy with Jamison Crowder.

I volunteer to play for league minimum. I only played one year of Peewee football in 5th grade, but I was a OT\TE\DE. I may be exactly what this team needs.
