That clued in and gutsy front office is laughed at ON THIS BOARD for being the Cowboys of the AFC. What exactly have they ever won with all those clues and guts you love so much?
It was the right decision regardless of their relative lack of success since. Marty and Wade lost control of their players and got beat at home by an inferior team.

This is team is going to keep Garrett no matter what. They say they want to win, but their actions say otherwise. They are liars. Liars to their fan base and also to themselves.

I thought it was a stupid decision.

Marty’s football career since says it was on point.
I don't think it does unless you know for sure that he just didn't want to retire. I mean he could have thought it was jist as well and decided to not coach.

I don't remember all the details surrounding Marty's firing, but it wouldn't surprise me if his reputation of always coming up short in the playoffs played a role. Especially considering that Chargers team was built to win it all. In hindsight, I don't think it was the right move.

That said, Garrett isn't even in the same stratosphere as a coaching talent like Marty.

The Marvin Lewis comparison remains the most accurate. Maybe Norv Turner.

It's impossible to know how his career had gone if he hadn't retired. Firing a coach after a 14-2 season was short-sighted at best.

It took 11 years for Tom Landry to win a Super Bowl and he wasn't competing about 31 other teams in a salary cap league. He isn't top tier but I have to admit I'm not as down on him after watching the Amazon series. The guy is a good leader. He just sucks at Xs and Os. That Atlanta game...ughhh....

I actually thought less of Garrett after watching All or Nothing.

I thought he might be a little different behind the scenes, but nope, just as robotic. Some of his interpersonal interactions came across as just plain awkward, including his competitions with Dak.

Most of his messages to the team were essentially t-shirt sayings.

During the 3 game ass-raping streak he kept repeating, "I refuse to allow this to define our season." Except for all his blustering about that, it didn't get better I think until Lee and Smith returned.

Yea that's because he doesn't know how to elevate rosters beyond their talent level with X's and O's, generally speaking.

I disagree on the robot thing. I don't think he comes across that way behind the scenes at all. The general consensus of everyone I've heard talk about the series is kind of the same as mine. Much better than the impression he gives publicly. Sometimes people see what they want to see. He gets effort out of his team, that can't be denied. The players do like and respect him. But he lets them down with his schemes and adjustments. He got badly exposed this last year when he had injuries.

Hell Philly lost their left tackle, starting quarterback, their starting OLB, their kicker, two 3rd down running backs and still won the Super Bowl. That just burns me. I get that Tyron Smith, Elliott and Sean Lee are probably the three best players on the team but good lord. We had a 3rd round tackle, former Pro Bowl back, and a damn good backup in Hitchens to replace them. It should have been enough. Hell, if Garrett had just given Green some help we could have still been competitive and not ruined our QB for the best part of 2 months.

Now you have me ranting...fuck Garrett...

Amen. I'm mystified by the people who claim he was so much different behind the scenes. Other than that he's calm in press conferences and rants and curses with the team, I don't think he's a bit different. It's still all superficial and forced. He's still more like an actor trying to play a coach than an actual coach with talent.
