We don't have to go TE in the second, though. We could go Ian Thomas, Jordan Aikens, or Mark Andrews in the 4th.

Stephen Jones on the radio right now. Says he's not aware that anything is final. Said Witten is meeting with Jones today.

Maybe he's leaving to free up money for Thomas.
He just restructured so this might actually hurt our cap. Per overthecap, we free up $2 million if we make him post June 1st, lose about $2 million if we make him pre June 1st.

If he retires he forfeits all guarantees, no?

Good luck replacing this fucking guy.

I know he was winding down, but unless Jarwin or Rico have something no one knows about then the downgrade is staggering.

Shit, after listening to Stephen, it sounds like this was not expected. They might have gotten a warning this might be coming but they were planning that it wasn't going to.

According to Archer his retirement frees up about 2.9 mil this year and leaves no future dead money.

Witten is awesome and all but I wouldn't be surprised if Beasley/Switzer can eat up his targets in the passing game. It won't be the same but it's not like we're losing some dynamic downfield weapon, we'll miss his reliability to get 6 yards on 3rd and 4 but overall I think the loss can be mitigated.

The impact on the running game is unknown though.
