Dak Prescott Is Tony Romo, And Tony Romo Is Jimmy Johnson

How long do honeymoons last? Isn’t the age-old saying something like two weeks?

However long traditional celebratory excursions last, it seems like the one between Dak Prescott and Dallas Cowboys fans has come to a close. The second-year quarterback isn’t too popular these days.

To be totally fair, Dak threw three interceptions on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. The first one wasn’t his fault (Terrance Williams tipped it), but three picks is no bueno.

What can we expect of Dak, though? He’s been put in a position where his offensive line isn’t superb, he doesn’t have an elite running back, and his head coach isn’t doing him any favors.

Dak Prescott is in a situation where he, completely by himself, has to carry his team. Some, basically me, call this the Tony Romo Zone (TRZ).

Life in the TRZ is rough for any quarterback, but more-so for the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Duh.

Cowboys fans spent many a game, season, year, whatever slinging heaps if disproval at Tony Romo during his days in the TRZ, and when they realized just how grateful they were for him, Dak Prescott had already taken over. Funny, isn’t it?

One of the more interesting debates over Cowboys History is how the team would have done had Jimmy Johnson stayed (shout out Jerry Jones). They would’ve won three, four, or a billion Super Bowls in a row depending on who you ask.

This is interesting because it can’t be disproven. You can’t convince someone that what didn’t happen wouldn’t have happened because they’re human and that’s how this species rolls (shout out humans).

This is a special type of legend. This is being considered even greater than you were because you maybe would have been. This is the Jimmy Johnson Zone (JJZ).

Amazingly, Tony Romo managed to do something nobody in the history of the Dallas Cowboys has ever done. He scratched and clawed his way out of the TRZ, and now he’s firmly entrenched in the JJZ.

The same way what goes up must come down in the world of gravity, when someone exits the TRZ for the JJZ, a new person must enter the TRZ. Enter, Dak Prescott.

Despite the fact that it literally took Dak Prescott for a great amount of Dallas Cowboys fans to realize just how grateful they really were for Tony Romo, Cowboys fans are now unappreciative of Dak Prescott. This is real life!

The thing is though, sometimes you have to fight the urge to put someone in the TRZ. You can do it, I believe in you.

Dak Prescott is barely over halfway in to his second year as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Learn the lessons of old and appreciate it while it’s here, as opposed to waiting until he’s in the JJZ.
