    2018 Early Declaration Thread...

Not Kamara good, but he will outperform his draft position (assuming he goes middle rounds).

Very talented back stuck behind a poor OL, bad offensive scheme, and no real passing game threat.

    2018 NFL Draft Underclassmen Declare

Washington DT Vita Vea says he'll forgo senior year, enter NFL draft

Washington defensive tackle Vita Vea made it official Monday night, announcing that he plans to skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Vea revealed the news in a social media post in which he also thanked his coaches, teammates and fans.

A 6-foot-5, 340-pound space-eating interior lineman, Vea is projected by ESPN's Todd McShay to be a first-round draft pick. He was the centerpiece of a Washington defense that allowed the fewest rushing yards in the FBS during the regular season.

Vea's decision to turn pro didn't come as a surprise. It was first reported by the Seattle Times after Washington's 35-28 loss to Penn State at the Playstation Fiesta Bowl on Saturday night; he confirmed the choice Monday.

"As I begin the next chapter of my football career, I will never forget where it all began," he wrote in the post Monday. "The University of Washington is a special place. ... I cherish every game I was able to play in purple and gold."

Vea won the Pac-12 defensive player of the year award this season after making 43 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

Saquon Barkley says he'll skip his senior year, enter the NFL draft
    Jan 1, 2018
    ESPN

Penn State running back Saquon Barkley has announced he will enter the 2018 NFL draft.

Barkley's decision comes a day after he rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns in the No. 9 Nittany Lions' 35-28 win over No. 11 Washington on Saturday at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, raising his season rushing totals to 1,271 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Barkley, a junior, is rated No. 1 on Mel Kiper Jr.'s Big Board and No. 2 by fellow ESPN analyst Todd McShay.

In a statement released by the school, Barkley said he hopes he "left a lasting impression" in Happy Valley, and he certainly did that. The versatile back ran for 3,843 career rushing yards, finishing just 90 yards shy of the program's all-time mark.

"As good of a player as he is, he is an even better person and I look forward to watching him achieve his dream of playing in the NFL," Penn State coach James Franklin said in a statement.

ESPN's Dan Murphy contributed to this report.

Sam Hubbard will skip final year of eligibility at Ohio State, enter NFL draft

Ohio State defensive end Sam Hubbard will skip his final year of eligibility in Columbus to enter the NFL draft, he announced via Twitter.

Hubbard posted a message to Ohio State fans Saturday morning, one day after picking up 2.5 sacks in a bowl victory over USC. A redshirt junior, he said he was ready for a new challenge after graduating this year.

Hubbard finished his final year of college football with 42 tackles and seven sacks as part of a Buckeyes defensive line loaded with pro prospects. His athleticism and size (6-foot-5, 265 pounds) led many to project him as a speed pass-rusher or hybrid linebacker for a 3-4 defense at the next level.

Hubbard is the second Ohio State player to announce his intentions to leave school with eligibility remaining. Cornerback Denzel Ward made his intentions known when he skipped Friday night's bowl game to avoid injuries before entering the draft.

At least a half dozen Buckeye underclassmen are weighing the pros and cons of declaring early for the draft this month. Six players from last year's team declared early. The deadline for them to decide is Jan. 15.

Denzel Ward skips Cotton Bowl, senior season to enter NFL draft
    Dec 30, 2017
    Mitch Sherman
    ESPN Staff Writer

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Ohio State All-America cornerback Denzel Ward announced minutes before kickoff that he would sit out Friday night's Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic against USC and forgo his final season with the Buckeyes to enter the NFL draft.

Ward made the announcement in a statement on Twitter.

A junior, Ward was rated No. 12 on Mel Kiper's latest Big Board and was projected to be the No. 12 pick in Todd McShay's Mock Draft 1.0.

Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer said the debate over Ward's availability to play Friday began soon after the Big Ten championship game on Dec. 2.

"I was out on the road recruiting, and I come back and a lot of people are pulling," Meyer said. "A lot of people pulling and telling stories, and everybody has opinions and all that."

Meyer described the issue of draft prospects skipping bowl games, a trend seemingly started last year by Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey, as "interesting."

Ward and his mother were interested in the opinions of the Ohio State coaches. They discussed many scenarios in which Ward might play in the Cotton Bowl.

"It went everywhere from a play to maybe third downs to maybe special teams," Meyer said. "He was practicing, and the decision wasn't made until probably yesterday.

    "So, that's it."

Ward led Ohio State with 17 passes defended, including two interceptions in his first year as a starter.

He did not participate in warm-ups ahead of Friday's game.
