Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick to have plate inserted in left hand, could miss some time
By SportsDayDFW.com

Cowboys starting cornerback Orlando Scandrick could end up missing some time after fracturing his hand in Sunday's win over the Giants.

SportsDay's David Moore reports that Scandrick will have a plate inserted into his left hand. And while the cornerback hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game at Denver, Moore says his status is more likely for Week 3's contest with Arizona.

After Sunday's game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Scandrick's injury was a fractured hand and said it was possible he could play through it.

Scandrick was playing his first game as a team captain when he led with his shoulder on a second-quarter tackle and hurt his hand.

Scandrick pushed second-year Giants receiver Sterling Shepard out of bounds after a 12-yard completion on a wheel route from Eli Manning.

The veteran cornerback left the game for X-rays and did not return. Rookie CB Chidobe Awuzie, whom the Cowboys drafted out of Colorado in the second round this year, replaced Scandrick after he went down.

I guess I didn't realize Scandrick didn't play the second half. That's a good thing, the young guys must have done OK.

Pretty damn sure it was the next play he got injured on. Looked like his hand got stepped on.

Saw Chido quite a bit, but not necessarily making plays.

Think he made a couple tackles. Didn't seem like he was letting up much, but that should be obvious given how little success the Giants had through the air.

Yeah some of it was great coverage to prevent the throw his direction. For example their was a WR screen that he jumped that forced Eli to not throw the ball and instead dump if off to the back for a loss. Wasn't technically a "play" he made but it was excellent coverage the led to a negative play.
