I was being lazy because I'm on my phone at the airport but this deserves its own thread.

It was epic when him and Vedder came together for Temple of the Dog. Hunger Strike is one of my all time favorites.

Yeah, just read that they are investigating it as a suicide. I really hope that isn't true.

Damn. RIP.

Probably my favorite Soundgarden song:

Followed closely by:

:beavis:headbang:rock

I saw Soundgarden a few times between '90 & '92 and they were flat out amazing. I have seen hundreds of shows in my life and the way people responded to songs like Jesus Christ Pose and Rusty Cage live during that Badmotorfinger tour still stands out in my mind as one of the more frenzied reactions to a rock show I have ever seen.

Yeah, this is not the correct response to a suicide.

I realize he is already dead, but if you know someone who is suicidal and confides in you, don't rail at them for being selfish. Oftentimes they probably feel like they'd be doing everyone a favor by killing themselves.

Suicide isn't selfish or heroic.

I remember hearing/seeing Outshined on MTV way back as my introduction to Soundgarden. Just really stood out and was something different and exciting. That and Fell on Black Days were probably my favorites but there were so many good songs. Cornell had such a great and emotional voice, it really crawled right inside you.

Just a sad day.

Apparently he hung himself in his hotel room. Wow.

Fucked up. I always thought he seemed to have his shit together. It's one thing with guys like Scott Weiland or Lane Staley where you almost expect things to come to catch up to them at some point. This caught me pretty off guard.

Exactly. Never would have expected this from him.
