Broncos sign a guy with more addresses than receptions

Posted by Darin Gantt on February 23, 2016, 8:35 AM EST

Richard Gordon has more teams than catches in his NFL career.

But that should also tell you something about the role teams want him to play.

The Broncos signed the journeyman blocking tight end yesterday, bringing him back after a short stint with the team last year.

He has four receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown (from then-Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer in a comeback win over the Steelers in 2012) in his five NFL seasons.

He began with the Raiders as a sixth-round pick, and has also spent time with the Steelers, Chiefs, Titans, Chiefs again, Broncos, Ravens and now Broncos again.

Gordon was with the Broncos for five games last season, but was waived in December when injuries left them short at other positions. He then did a short stint with the Ravens but was cut the week before Christmas.

Report: Saints expected to release Marques Colston

Posted by Josh Alper on February 23, 2016, 2:31 PM EST

Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis recently called wide receiver Brandon Coleman the “heir apparent” to Marques Colston in the Saints offense and it appears Coleman is going to get his chance to prove Loomis right pretty soon.

Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports that the Saints are expected to release Colston “in the coming days.” The move would clear $3.2 million from the Saints’ salary cap, although there would be $2.7 million in dead money left behind.

That money left on the cap stood as a reason to think that the Saints might try to get Colston to stick around at a lower salary, but Colston’s 2015 season provided reason to move on. He caught 45 passes for 520 yards in 13 games and has gradually slipped away from being the dangerous target he was early in his Saints career.

Colston opened that career by catching at least 70 passes for more that 1,000 yards in six of his first seven seasons while adding 58 touchdown catches. He helped New Orleans win a Super Bowl along with guard Jahri Evans, who has already been released by the Saints as they move further away from the most successful days in franchise history.

It is sounding like Roddy White might be out in Atl, too.

Dorks like this are going to get money to start somewhere when in reality if he is starting on your team you're already looking to replace him.

No. Injury issues and just think he is done.

What about Roddy White? I think I would with him.
No, I'm just not a fan of older WR's though. Seems like a good guy but I just think the speed and explosion is gone with him. It's normal for a guy who is 34 years old.

Report: Eagles up offer to Sam Bradford

Posted by Josh Alper on February 28, 2016, 12:51 PM EST

While speaking to the media at the Combine in Indianapolis last week, Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman reiterated that the Eagles want to have quarterback Sam Bradford back with the team in 2016 and that negotiations to make that happen are ongoing.

They also reportedly increased their bid for Bradford’s services. Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that the Eagles put a bigger deal on the table during this week’s talks with Bradford, who will become a free agent March 9 if he doesn’t sign a deal or receive a franchise/transition tag from the Eagles.

There are no numbers in the report nor any indication of how much of a jump the latest offer might be over previous ones, but Garafolo reports it is “at the top of his expected range on the open market” and that it is part of a “strong push” ahead of the start of free agency and the two-day “legal tampering” window that allows players to talk to other teams that immediately precedes it.

If Bradford responds to that push, the Eagles should be re-signing another current member of the team in an offseason that’s already seen plenty of that in Philadelphia.

You think thr Texans want him back?

In all honesty though, the guy played at his best as a 4-3 end. If only someone would let him play that style of defense for more then a short period.

He has a lot of dog in him but I would be OK with a incentive laden contract.

He is definitely looking for the most money but the Cowboys still carry a lot of cachet when actually going after somebody.
