With a torn achilles? No. But this really sucks. I have no doubt this guy was going above us at 28. Now he won't and one less guy will be pushed down to us.

He is scheduled for an MRI, but if it is a torn Achilles, you might as well not expect full speed and ability for two seasons.

He can come back late next year or in 2018, but most players don't get fully recovered for two years.

If we had an abundance of third round picks, I would. But we don't.

A team that has those, like say the Pats, can take him and shelve him.

Six months? Jones' ears just perked up.

In the second?

Yes, I'd take him there. It practically a third there anyway.

Wha...? This is the guy you gave as an example as somebody you wouldn't want at 28. When he was healthy. And I can understand that.

Now you'd take him one round later when he has a blown achilles and probably won't play this year? When there will be perfectly healthy corners that will be there and be good value picks.

Your cornerback do's and don'ts confuse the ever livin' shit outta me.

I would take Byron Jones that late again too.

The achilles doesn't concern me. He'll be back.

If we can PUP him and have him ready by week 6? I may be on board with a late second. But I'd prefer an Adoree Jackson if available. A great athlete who can be a top notch corner and return man for us. Would love to not have a return guy active on game day who does little else then return.

He can be PUPed just like Jaylon Smith was.

I still think that six month outlook is pretty optimistic.

Yeah I have no idea what the severity is. Obviously the drop foot is what really held Jaylon back from playing. I think the knee was good enough to play in the second half of the season.

My thing is you already have the risk that a rookie will get hurt. But why guarantee that they will get hurt if you don't have to?

For me Jones was the 2nd best CB in the draft, I'd consider him in the 2nd although likely pass depending on what else was available, but I'd definitely take him in the 3rd.
