Since it's not supposed to be sideways and backwards like that I didn't recognize it as 'hook 'em horns', especially since he's an Aggie.
I don't know what it means in various positions except one other when it is given in a point downward position. That is simply an anti longhorn position. Could be he was outing the horns if he was in fact in the middle of Bevo country.

The guy next to him was throwing it up the normal way and Manziel was pointing at him, so maybe it means "that guy is a LH fan"?

Chip finally demotes DeMarco

Posted by Michael David Smith on December 7, 2015, 10:20 AM EST

PHILADELPHIA, PA - JANUARY 17:

We’ve been pointing out all season that the Eagles’ ground game runs more effectively when someone other than DeMarco Murray is getting the ball, and on Sunday Chip Kelly finally figured that out.

Murray, the running back who got a five-year, $40 million contract this offseason, was on the field for a season-low 14 offensive snaps on Sunday. Murray finished the game third on the Eagles in rushing, with just 24 yards. Darren Sproles led the team with 66 yards, while Kenjon Barner had 39 yards.

Considering that the Eagles had their best win of the season while Murray spent most of the game on the bench, it’s hard to imagine this was just a one-time thing. And when Ryan Mathews returns from a concussion, Murray should get even less playing time.

Overall this season, Murray has 163 carries for 569 yards, a 3.5-yard average, and four rushing touchdowns. Mathews, Sproles and Barner have combined for 160 carries for 767 yards, a 4.8-yard average, and six rushing touchdowns. Murray just isn’t getting the job done. After Sunday’s game, Murray seemed resigned to the fact that he’s been buried on the depth chart.

“You always want an opportunity to play and obviously run the ball, but we got the big victory so that’s all that matters,” Murray said. “Things we were doing were working so it went well for us.”

Chip Kelly the General Manager made a big mistake giving all that money to Murray, a running back who quite clearly doesn’t fit in the offense run by Chip Kelly the coach. But at least Chip Kelly the coach has finally figured that out. It only took him 13 weeks.

I wonder how hard it will be for the Eagles to dump him and his contract.

Seahawks parting ways with cornerback Cary Williams

Posted by Darin Gantt on December 7, 2015, 4:04 PM EST

Cary Williams is going to have plenty of time to pick out sconces now.

The Seahawks have decided to part ways with the veteran cornerback, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network (and confirmed by our Curtis Crabtree of KJR).

Williams signed a three-year, $18 million deal with the Seahawks last summer, with $7 million guaranteed. But he failed to make any kind of impact, and was a healthy scratch the last two weeks, losing his starting job to Deshawn Shead.

The 30-year-old corner became memorable during his stint with the Eagles in part for skipping offseason work to pick out sconces and attend his daughter’s dance recitals, both of which are totally appropriate excuses for skipping OTAs.

Now, he has plenty of time.

Report: DeMarco went to Lurie with frustration about Chip’s offense

DeMarco Murray
AP
Eagles running back DeMarco Murray, who was finally demoted on Sunday after struggling all season, has reportedly gone above Chip Kelly to take things up with the owner.

Murray went to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and addressed frustrations with his role in Kelly’s offense, Ed Werder of ESPN reports.

Werder’s report adds that Murray doesn’t want to cause a scene, but there’s no question that a disgruntled player going to the owner with a complaint about the coach is going to cause discord within the franchise. Murray was the prize free agent signing of Kelly’s first year with total personnel control, and if Murray thinks the problems with Kelly’s offense are so serious that he has to have a sit-down with the owner, that’s a real problem.

There’s no word on what Lurie told Murray, but the reality is Murray has only himself to blame for his demotion. If anything, Kelly gave Murray too many opportunities, keeping him in the starting lineup even as he was outplayed by all three of the Eagles’ other running backs, Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner.

The 5-7 Eagles are fighting for the NFC East title, and it has become clear that they’re more likely to win their final four games with a running back other than Murray getting the bulk of the carries. Whether Murray likes it or not, Kelly was right to bench him.

Murray's fault for signing to a team that couldn't use him. I wonder if he regrets not taking the offer in Dallas.
