Cowboys boost linebacker corps with two signings
By: K.D. Drummond | 30 minutes ago

Dallas is strapped for live bodies at the linebacker position and as such, signed two players at the position after the first workout of 2016 training camp.

The Cowboys placed linebacker Rolando McClain on the reserved/did not report on Friday, as the soon-to-be suspended linebacker did not accompany the team to Oxnard, CA for training camp. They also placed second-year linebacker Damien Wilsn on the NFI list after he suffered an eye injury playing paintball a week before camp started. Sean Lee is taking it slow due to April arthroscopic knee surgery and newly signed Justin Durant still trying to get back into gameshape after spending the offseason contemplating retirement. Suffice to say, they need help.

Enter Darius Eubanks and Henoc Muamba.

Eubanks is actually on his second tour with the Cowboys, having spent two months with the team on the practice squad in 2015. He originally was a UDFA signing out of Georgia Southern by the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. The 6-foot-2, 227 pounder has also spent time with Tampa Bay and Cleveland.

Muamba is a former first-overall draft selection of the CFL. In 2011, the Congolese-born Canadian was selected by Winnipeg. He was named an all-star in 2013 when he finished second in the league with 106 tackles. He previously spent time with the Indianapolis Colts in their 3-4, but will now have an opportunity to see if his skill-set is better suited for a 43 front.

Muamba has six career NFL tackles.

I don't know but their scouting really is in-depth being able to find all these obscure players.

I see they don't care to make an effort to find players who could actually make the team, and just want to provide camp fodder.

Newly-signed linebacker Darius Eubanks has decided to leave the team after just a couple of days on the roster.

The Cowboys worked him out Friday and officially signed him Saturday. But even after a couple of non-contact practices over the weekend, Eubanks, who has dealt with recent injuries, decided he wasn’t in the proper shape to continue through the rigors of camp.

The Cowboys will likely give Eubanks his outright release by Monday, which will free up on another roster spot. While the team will probably keep looking for more linebackers, especially with Rolando McClain not reporting to camp and Damien Wilson (eye) sitting out a couple of weeks, team officials said Sunday there could be other positions being considered.

Cowboys sign LB James Morris, will look for more defensive help

Posted by Josh Alper on August 2, 2016, 4:21 PM EDT

The Cowboys brought three linebackers in for workouts on Tuesday and they picked one to join their 90-man roster.

James Morris got the nod over Emmanuel Acho and Quayshawn Nealy. The Cowboys were in need of another body at linebacker with Rolando McClain not at camp and Damien Wilson on the non-football injury list.

Morris played six games for the Giants last season and made a pair of tackles. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Patriots in 2014 and spent the year on injured reserve.

He may not be the only addition to the defense this week. Executive vice president Stephen Jones said that the team plans to look at more players during their day off on Wednesday and mentioned defensive tackle as a spot of interest with Tyrone Crawford dealing with a back injury at the moment.

Go Hawks!!!!

Loved the guy at Iowa. Sort of your typical white, undersized but really instinctive Big Ten MLBer. Obviously his odds here are slim at this point. He is really just being brought in as a body.
