Cowboys release quarterback Kellen Moore

Posted by Darin Gantt on November 10, 2015, 5:29 PM EST

The Cowboys have gotten this far with Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel, and apparently don’t think they’ll be needing a third quarterback any time soon.

According to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys have released Kellen Moore.

Moore was signed to their practice squad after the Lions cut him, reuniting him with former coach Scott Linehan. But they promoted him to the active roster after Tony Romo broke his collarbone, though they haven’t needed him yet.

Moore hasn’t thrown an NFL pass, and could sign back with the Cowboys’ practice squad if he clears waivers. Unless the Colts for some reason want him, with only one healthy quarterback on their 53-man roster.

Probably don't want to owe him dead money for whatever idiotic amount we signed him for.
He's making something like 600k this year, and his contract is up after this season.

And you still owe him for what is left of that 600K. Sure, it is not a lot, but it is less than what Moore costs to cut.

And? If they cut him, he counts 300k. If they keep him, he occupies the 53rd roster spot and counts 300k. I don't care either way.
But I'm sure you'll be able to find fault in either scenario.
