Yep. Shrimp Beasley just ain't as good as everyone thought. He is an accessory, not a main tool.
I can't help but think back to training camp though.

Uncoverable.

I don't think anybody has ever said he's a 'main tool'. yikes He should be around the 4th option in a passing game, like he initially was with Dez, Williams, and Witten. And he was pretty good in that role.

This seemed like a good idea at the time.

I'm a Beasley fan, but only as a WR. He shouldn't be fielding punts, or even be mentioned as a "punt returner". He just sucks at it.

But really, there's no excuse for this organization not picking up a ST ace who is a THE guy on returns. Harris was OK, but his avg (if I recall correctly) was in the bottom of the league the years he was with us.

Did anyone ever think he is more than that? I hope not

We will sign a kickoff specialist, but not a kick return specialist

Not sure of actual completion percentage with Weeden(if I get a chance will look it up here in a few) but Gordon did lead league in yards by a wr that year. Just saying a good wr can make even a bad qb look better than he is.
Not unless the ball gets to the receiver.:art

I caught stupid heat for pointing this out in the offseason.

He's a roadblock in our real WR development pipeline. He makes a handful of plays in the perfect niche situation and half this site was just slathering on his cock.

BS. Nobody argued for Beasley in this role. The argument was that he was fine for the role he had and that being the 4th target.

Third WR is a pretty important role in any offense. Beasley is one guy who needs perfect conditions to be productive. You can be a niche player, i.e. do certain things, but still do them regardless. Welker and Edelman are perfect examples. Does not matter who plays with them, they still do what they do. Beasley can't do shit unless he is the uncovered fourth option.

Beasley was doing more than fine when we had everyone healthy. Nobody was complaining about him then. But now? Using Welker and Edelman as a comparison? Works because they are all small, white WRs I guess. But they both played with Brady and then Welker with Manning. After Romo was hurt, Beasley got Weeden.

Sing with me now... One of these things, is not like the other.

I can all but guarantee you Beasley needs Dez Bryant out there far more than he needs Tony Romo being the guy delivering the football.

So I used Amendola as a comparison. He was on our roster. Where is he now?

Far more? I seriously doubt it. I'm sure having somebody like Dez out there makes everyone's job easier. But I'm not about to discount the difference between Romo delivering him the ball over Weeden, either.

Seems a bit fickle for folks to pick one play to trash a guy who has delivered some pretty clutch performances.

I think the one play topped off a very lackluster catch and fall down pattern. The fumble just tipped the already wavering scales.

Explain the wavering scales. I missed that part.
