But, yes, if the system were distributed purely per their percentage of national population, they'd only combine for 5 electoral votes.

Does every electoral vote represent the same amount of people?
A few states does not represent the wishes of all of the states. That is the purpose of the system. You can’t give all of the power to a few regions if you want every state to have an equal voice.

I think that trump is an embarrassment but exactly what policies are hurting the country?

So there's no way to win a state without winning the popular vote?
Can a candidate win a state without the majority of the votes in his state?

None. His over the top personality is the only thing the opposition and disgruntled democrats can latch on to for detracting from his tenure and they have taken liberties to make his responses take on the cloak of incompetence and unfit for office leanings. The liberties taken by outright malicious lies are more disgraceful than the depictions they have made of him.

It's kinda ironic. Even Trump's controversial antics are strengthening progressive social movement/activism moreso than previous politically correct presidencies.

Almost like the cliche that a good guy needs a bad guy to motivate/accelerate getting 'gooder'.

If the 11-5 Redskins won their 11 games by an average score of 59-10, but the 12-4 Cowboys won each of their 12 games by 1 point...can’t win the game if you don’t score more points, who should win the election...errr, division?
