Sounds like the electoral college were created to protect the interests of large land owners.
And now aren't the lines moved constantly so the party in power can "arrange" the way the votes come out?
Better to lose 1 vote 80-20 and win 2 51-49?
You are confusing sparse population with acrage. (Land). Think of areas with dense or sparse population and how they are represented. It’s the population that is factored not the land.

    Sounds pretty darn true...
This is a short and fairely easy to understand synopsis of the reason behind the electoral college:

The system empowers states, especially smaller ones, because it incentivizes presidential candidates to appeal to places that may be far away from population centers. Farmers in Iowa may have very different concerns than bankers in New York. A more federalist system of electing presidents takes that into account.

No it's not, the population are the ones voting, and 3 million of them were ignored. Why? Because they had to many neighbors??

No they were ignored because we are a republic, not a democracy

They were in a area that the majority of the vote was for Trump so the entire area was designated to Trump. The other side of the coin is. That Trump lost votes in areas that carried Clinton so it works out for the most part. The crucial thing to remember is that the heavy concentration of populated areas may have carried Clinton but the majority of the country by area voted for Trump.

Correct. We are not a direct democracy.

    Ok, this I can understand.
I guess my beef now would be with those calling the US the greatest democracy.

Maybe once upon a time we were the greatest at something.

I'd put us, as a country, equivalent to Rome when Nero came to power.

Rome bounced back after Nero, so there's hope.
