Which explains Irving's lack of minutes last year after Gregory came back clearly not 100%.

They wanted Gregory to play through it and he couldn't. Irving, Tapper, and Russell need quality snaps on every kind of down.

A young rotation is what it's going to take this year, and maybe Tapper or one of the others develops into something.

But they can't with a 0-sack producer all but guaranteed a spot ahead of them in the rotation.
Irvin played 3 technique DT. We had the Crawfords already playing there. That's why.

He's too tall and too light for 3T and rightly sized as a DE. The extra ten pounds makes a big difference inside, especially with his high center of gravity.

He's a DE. It made no sense to rotate him at 3T behind the Crawfords, especially given the utterly crappy production from Mincey and Gregory.

Gregory didn't outplay Irving last year... he didn't come close despite getting more time on the field.
