Jerry Jones: Cowboys were 'very concerned before the game' about Dan Bailey's back

By Brandon George , Staff Writer

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The most accurate kicker in NFL history is in a bit of a funk. But it has much to do with his health.

Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey missed his second consecutive 47-yard field goal attempt wide left in the first quarter Sunday against San Francisco. Bailey also missed a 47-yard field goal wide left late in the third quarter a week ago in a win over Chicago.

Bailey was dealing with back tightness before Sunday's game against San Francisco, and it plagued him in the game.

Bailey made all three of his extra-point attempts Sunday and a 22-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Four of his five kickoffs went into the end zone, with three going for touchbacks.

"We were very concerned before the game," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of Bailey. "Not surprised at all that he missed the field goal. Thought that was a pretty good time to check it out. Might not have wanted to try another one during the game -- a long field goal. There's no question that he had a limitation there."

Wait. So they knew before the game that Bailey had a back injury and was limited.

Yet they attempted a 47 yard field goal on the shitty SF grass on 4th and 2?

How dumb are we exactly?

They're dumb enough to think we'd buy this bullshit excuse.
