Daredevil showrunner is supposedly calling next season “Daredevil Vs. The Punisher”

By Alex McCown@alexm247 Jun 26, 2015 2:56 PM

We recently learned The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal was perfectly cast as Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, and would be appearing in season two of Marvel’s Daredevil. We were enthusiastic, because that seemed like an excellent choice for the role, and an intriguing wrinkle in the world of Matt Murdock. Now, it seems like the people behind Daredevil think so, too: Nerdist reports showrunner Marco Ramirez has begun referring to season two of the series as “Daredevil Vs. The Punisher.” So, instead of just being a guy who shows up a couple of times, shoots a bunch of people, and generally pisses off Daredevil, it looks like we’ll be seeing quite a bit of the brutal antihero. And if the compelling weirdness that was Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin this season is any indication, Frank Castle might just become the best part of the show.
Very pleased with the casting. It should be quality. Bernthal should be able to bring a "good intentions guy" with a psychotic edge, he did it in TWD and also in Fury.

Daredevil was superb.

Especially D'Onofrio, even though he freaked me out one time when he yelled and sounded exactly like his Bug character on MIB. :lol

Anyone in on Humans? New series starting on AMC Sunday night.
I've watched the first 2 episodes(BBC is airing it too) and it's off to a pretty good start.

The only part of this I don't like is that it probably means less Kingpin

I expect the Kingpin to be especially brutal now that he realized his delusion of being some sort of savior.

Rectify will have a marathon running on the Sundance channel 7/4.

I highly recommend it for a slot on your DVR.

I really hope that was buckshot that was blasted into Velcoro and that he is not dead. He is the best thing about the show, just a violent, lost dude. His scene with his ex-wife was so good, to go from rage to sadness, alternating between the two. Paul has to be gay right? I mean he has to take Viagara to get it up for his hot lady and he sure was taking a long look at that guy from his balcony.

In the trailers there are scenes that show Farrell doing stuff that we haven't seen happen in the show yet, I'm guessing he had a vest on that saves him, there's a reason they only had him get shot in the stomach/chest area. As for the other dude, I didn't think he was gay after the first episode, just that they were using him taking Viagra as an example to show how f'ed in the head he is, but after that scene on the balcony, yea, gay.

I'm hoping it's one of those less than lethal salt pellet shots but that second blast was so close I don't know that it would matter.

All right, you primitive screwheads, here’s Bruce Campbell in Ash Vs. Evil Dead

Looks like producers were able to get Bruce Campbell back into fighting shape for his new Starz series, Ash Vs. Evil Dead, after all. Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at the newest entry in the Evil Dead saga, which premieres this fall. Gone is the steel robotic hand built by a big-box store employee and some middle-age alchemists; the chainsaw arm is back, and Ash is looking pretty groovy in his standard blue shirt and brown pants. No sign of a boomstick, but perhaps he’s still in that seven-day waiting period:

According to EW, “Ash (who is still a stock boy) is once again ready to face his demons, and this time he’s got two folks to help him get the job done in fellow Value Stop employes Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana Delorenzo).” Apparently the mope got shitcanned from S-Mart, more than likely for stealing boxes on his day off. The life of a stock boy can’t take up most of Ash’s time, so what’s he been doing since he blasted that Deadite out of the air in 1993? “Not much!,” says Campbell. “He was perfectly happy basically doing nothing, telling lies about how he lost his hand in bars late at night.” (Why would he lie about it? The real story is much more interesting. That cute girl at the end of Army Of Darkness seemed to buy it, even if Ted Raimi didn’t.)

Campbell adds that the new series owes quite a bit to The Searchers, with Ash taking more of a backseat “John Wayne” role and letting the young kids get slapped around by Kandarian demons. That being sai,d while Ash may not be the best stock boy, he’s “still a really good monster fighter,” according to Sam Raimi who directed the pilot episode of the new series.

So how did the Deadites return? We’ll probably have to wait until the series premiere to find that out, but we here at AV Club are willing to bet that that dumbass Ash had something to do with it. After all, this is the same guy who went back to the cabin after all the undead fun the first time around.

Not sure what I liked more...Farrell not being dead or Vaughn yanking that dudes grill out with plyers. He annoyed me.
