NFL drops lawsuit now that it has seen photos in case involving Cowboys DE Greg Hardy

David Moore

The NFL has dropped its lawsuit against the Mecklenburg District Attorney’s office now that it has viewed photos submitted as evidence in the domestic violence case against Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy.

The DA’s office issued a release Monday afternoon stating that the complaint had been dropped. This comes after the office agreed to allow the NFL, the NFL Players Association, Greg Hardy’s attorney and their experts to view the seven photographs described in the consent order. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department previously allowed NFL investigators to review photographs collected as evidence by police in the case.

The NFL and other parties were not given or allowed to make copies of the photos. The release states that the NFL has agreed to keep the photographs confidential but demonstrated a need to review the photos for a disciplinary hearing involved Hardy.

Hardy was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list in September as he awaited a jury trial for assaulting and threatening to kill his former girlfriend, Nicole Holder. Charges were dismissed last month when prosecutors were unable to locate the accuser and she failed to appear in court.

A judge had previously found Hardy guilty so he requested a jury trial that is his right under North Carolina law.

I wonder if Comrade Goodell is going to reinstate him now.

Doesn't seem like this has much to do with whether he'll be punished or not.

They filed the suit because they wanted to see the evidence, now they have, so they dropped the suit.

No way of knowing whether it was incriminating or not.

What can we take from the fact that they dropped the suit?

The suit was just to see the pictures. Once they saw the pictures the agreement was that they would drop the suit. So basically we can't take anything from it.

I wonder if it will impact the impending/possible penalty . Would be great if it reduced or eliminated it.
