I know, I was just messing with you.

Private sector jobs are based on production and profitability because they have to generate their revenues but government disregards productivity because their revenues are appropriated from taxation yet government sets the standard for the minimum wage. Its ironic.

Even then you can't paint the difference between the two with such a broad brush. My job is not funded by any tax dollars at all.

I Was employed for the federal government and was paid based on my expertise, education and experience. My job however was the exception to the rule because our agency generated their own funding and did not rely on approiations.

I think i know the answer to my question but i was just confirming. My guess is that you are an employee of the state and are on their retirement system but your payroll comes from the university.

Both. The department I'm in at Tech, though, is self-sustaining. We don't get any funds from the University.

Our payroll comes from our revenue, not from the University.
