Penalty breakdown: Dallas Cowboys
November, 12, 2014
By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com
IRVING, Texas -- With the Dallas Cowboys on their bye week, there is no Officials Breakdown. Instead we offer up a Penalty Breakdown.
For the most part, the Cowboys have done a much better job staying away from penalties in 2014. They have 59 penalties for 443 yards. Through 10 games last season they had 67 penalties for 566 yards. The amount of penalties – nine for 65 yards – against the Jacksonville Jaguars was a little disconcerting and has to be something the Cowboys avoid in the future.
Tyron Smith leads the Cowboys with seven penalties. He has four false-start calls, two holding penalties and an unnecessary roughness flag. Travis Frederick and Brandon Carr have six each, although four of Carr’s penalties were declined.
The breakdown:
Tyron Smith – 7 (one declined)
Travis Frederick – 6
Brandon Carr – 6 (four declined)
