The teams of the deadline-driven NFL continue to drive toward Tuesday’s 75-man roster limit well in advance of the last minute for doing so.

The Chiefs have announced that 11 players have been released. Gone are receiver Deon Anthony, defensive lineman Jairus Campbell, defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo, receiver Weston Dressler, guard Otis Hudson, receiver Jerrell Jackson, cornerback Brandon Jones, cornerback Vernon Kearney, safety Jerron McMillian, tight end Adam Schlitz, and receiver Darryl Surgent. Also, safety Sanders Commings, a fifth-round pick in 2013, has been placed on injured reserve.

The Chiefs are now at 78 players. They have to make three more roster moves by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, and another 22 by Saturday.

I still have doubt he is any worse than what we have at end. How does a player produce like he did and suddenly just suck? Seattle tried him at LB.
He was productive in college. His physical attributes appear to be solid.

I just don't get it. There has to be something going on that I'm not aware of.

My brother who is a longhorn fan said its his lack of strength that's an issue. Probably work ethic as well because they have doubted his strength for awhile and still didn't hit the gym. Have a hard time still not wanting to bring him in with what we have. See if somebody can motivate him.

He probably doesn't realize how badly he wants to be an NFL'er.

Jerry needs to remind him.

I'd definitely bring him in.

The Cardinals have made their way to 75 players by dropping 13 players.

Among that baker’s dozen are three veterans. Kicker Jay Feely is out after losing the kicking competition and the team has also announced that tackle Max Starks and quarterback Ryan Lindley will join him in a search for new employers.

Starks signed with the team early this month, but wasn’t able to displace starting right tackle Bobby Massie or the team’s other options for the swing tackle role behind Massie and left tackle Jared Veldheer. Starks, who turned 32 this year, is coming off a year that saw him play two games for the Rams and could be nearing the end of the line after a long run with the Steelers.

The writing was on the wall for Lindley with the addition of Logan Thomas in the draft. Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton held the first two spots on the depth chart and Thomas will slot in behind them while Lindley tries to land a reserve spot elsewhere in the league.

Linebacker Keenan Clayton, linebacker JoJo Dickson, center Tom Draheim, wide receiver Reggie Dunn, linebacker Derrell Johnson, safety Orhian Johnson, wide receiver Kevin Ozier, defensive tackle Justin Renfrow, cornerback Brandon Sermons and running back Damien Thigpen have also been released.

One day before the NFL deadline for all teams to trim their rosters to 75 players, the Browns are down to 76.

Cleveland announced that 14 players were cut from the 90 man roster today.

It’s a fairly nondescript group of players, with no big names cut: DB Royce Adams, RB Edwin Baker, OL Randall Harris, DB T.J. Heath, DL Cam Henderson, WR Jonathan Krause, OL Ryan Lee, LB Caleb McSurdy, OL Keavon Milton, LB Keith Pough, WR Tim Smith, OL Jeremiah Warren, TE Martell Webb and WR Anthony Armstrong.

The Browns now have to make one more roster move before tomorrow afternoon. One possibility is that the NFL’s looming suspension of wide receiver Josh Gordon could come down today or tomorrow, which would get the Browns down to 75.

The Vikings released a pair of veterans among their first wave of cuts, with cornerback Derek Cox and tight end Kory Sperry the notable names of the lot.

The rest of the list included: Safety Brandan Bishop, tackles Pierce Burton and Kevin Murphy, wide receivers Andy Cruse, Kamar Jorden, Erik Lora and Ty Walker, defensive linemen Kheeston Randall, Tyler Scott and Jake Snyder, and cornerback Robert Steeples.

They also waived-injured safety Mistral Raymond.

The one bit of good news was tight end Chase Ford being activated from the physically unable to perform list.

They still have one roster move to make, making you wonder why they’re waiting.

The Titans did a little more than half their pending business Monday, releasing eight players in advance of Tuesday’s deadline.

According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennesseean, the players released were: Cornerback Marc Anthony, defensive lineman Lanier Coleman, offensive lineman Tyler Horn, running back Waymon James, safety Hakeem Smith and wide receivers Julian Horton, Jaz Reynolds and Derel Walker.

Two other moves will come when linebacker Colin McCarthy and offensive lineman Gabe Ikard are moved to injured reserve, since they’re having season-ending surgeries.

That mean’s they’ll have to cut five more guys before tomorrow afternoon.

The reigning NFL champions have commenced the process of identifying the best 53 players to attempt to defend the crown.

The team officially announced on Monday a variety of roster moves, headlined by the release of veteran tackle Wade Smith and veteran cornerback Terrell Thomas.

Smith, a 12-year veteran, started every game in Houston from 2010 through 2013. He signed with the Seahawks on August 4.

Also gone are tackle Cory Brandon, running back Demitrius Bronson, safety Mike Dobson, defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat, receiver Kevin Smith, and cornerback Thomas Wolfe.

Jeffcoat, the 2013 Big 12 defensive player of the year and winner of the Ted Hendricks Award, arrived as an undrafted free agent with a “boulder” on his shoulder. That still wasn’t enough to get Jeffcoat to the final 75.

The Lions settled their kicking competition on Monday.

Seventh-round pick Nate Freese is the team’s choice with Giorgio Tavecchio among six players released on Monday as the team made its way down to 75 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. The Lions had made a previous round of moves to get the ball rolling on Sunday.

Tavecchio will now become an option for Denver and other teams looking for a kicker before the start of the season. Tavechhio has also seen time with the 49ers and Packers, but has yet to kick in a regular season game.

The other notable name cut loose by the Lions on Monday was cornerback Jonte Green. The 2012 sixth-rounder played 24 games for the Lions over the last two seasons, but fell too far down the depth chart this summer. Cornerback Aaron Hester, fullback Chad Abram, quarterback James Franklin and punter Drew Butler were also cut from the roster.

Safety DeJon Gomes was placed on injured reserve to round out the team’s transactions.

The Ravens knocked 15 names off the roster Monday, including the release of safety Omar Brown and wide receiver LaQuan Williams.

They waived eight other players, including outside linebacker Nicholas DiMarco, punter Richie Leone, tackle David Mims, cornerbacks Marrio Norman and Deji Olaytoye, linebacker Austin Spitler, wide receiver Mike Willie and running back Cierre Wood.

They also waived-injured fullback Shaun Chapas and tackle Brent Van Sloten, and placed defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore, guard Will Rackley and defensive end Brent Urban on injured reserve.

Those moves get them down to the 75-player limit a day ahead of the league’s deadline.

The Rams made their first wave of moves, with more to come tomorrow.

The team announced 10 cuts, none of the surprising variety.

The players released were: Cornerback Jarrid Bryant, punter Bobby Cowan, tackle R.J. Dill, wide receiver Jordan Harris, long snapper Jorgen Hus, fullback Kadeem Jones, linebacker Johnny Millard, wide receiver T.J. Moe, tackle D.J. Morrell and linebacker Pat Schiller (waived/injured).

That gets them to 79, meaning they still have four to cut before tomorrow afternoon.

The Chargers have announced their first wave of cuts, leaving them with four more moves to make to get to 75 players by Tuesday afternoon.

If there’s a notable departure, it may be that of punter Chase Tenpenny and not just because his name makes him sounds like the first Dickens character to make it to the NFL. With Tenpenny gone, Mike Scifres is the only punter on the roster for Thursday night and that could lead to some bad memories of last year when Scifres hurt his knee on a blocked punt in the final exhibition contest.

Tackle Nick Becton, fullback Zach Boren, tight end Jake Byrne, wide receiver Brelan Chancellor, linebacker Adrian Hamilton, wide receiver Micah Hatfield (pictured), guard Darryl Johnson, tight end Ryan Otten, cornerback Lowell Rose and running back Kerwynn Williams were the other 10 players asked to turn in their playbooks on Monday.

The Chargers will likely have some tougher decisions to make later this week as they make their way to their initial 53-man roster.

I was, too. But considering he's now been cut by three teams, maybe my evaluation skills aren't as sharp as I'd like to think.

He was productive in college as a rusher.

Three teams, including Dallas, decided to make him a 3-4 OLB.

At this stage, I would bring the bitch in.

I wish we could have 100 assholes auditioning every fucking day it is so bad at DE.

The New Orleans Saints signed linebacker Victor Butler a season ago with the hope he could become a significant contributor to their defense.

Ultimately, he may never play a down for the team.

According to Kristian Garic of 870 WWL in New Orleans, the Saints are planning to release Butler as a part of their cuts to get down to 75 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Butler suffered a torn ACL after colliding with running back Mark Ingram in practice in June 2013. He was placed on the physically unable to perform list with the hope his knee may somehow be able to recover in time for him to play down the stretch. That hope never materialized and Butler spent the entire season on the physically unable to perform list.

According to Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Butler returned to practice Monday after missing a significant amount of training camp with another issue, though this one was undisclosed by the Saints. The move to release Butler will save the Saints $1.5 million this season.

Butler’s last game action came with the Dallas Cowboys in 2012, where he appeared in all 16 games and recorded 25 tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles.
