The more I think about this, the smarter it is.
A lot of teams are loading up their personnel departments with ex-GMs and it helps. Detroit did it and they are getting the talent in there.

Look dood, why would we want to hire a GM type if all he's gonna do is report to Jerry and seek his approval anyway?
