Well, even though we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that what we are doing is not working, we shouldn't get rid of callahan until we have a proven upgrade or even an all-timer to taker over.

The offensive line was finally gelling. Too bad to let the coach go. He seems pretty disgruntled though with the whole PlaycallerGate...

Frank Pollack has been working with the OL a lot, so not sure losing Callahan will make that much difference with regards to the OL.

This is so fricked up on so many levels.

The first being the most obvious issue to identify - the HC not being able to pick his guy.

Second, the fact that Jones wanted a guy who could bring a system different to that of Garrett's, but then not allowing the guy to actually implement his own system and instead just call the plays for the same exact offense the Cowboys had been running for the previous 5 years.

What the hell is the point in bringing in someone like Callahan if you're not going to allow him to run the offense as he sees fit?

Honestly, I don't care if it is Callahan or Linehan...this is the last year and it either works or completely flames out. Flaming out is another .500 season IMO.

Absolutely correct. 3 straight 8-8 seasons is really just as bad as 3 straight 5-11. The only real difference is the draft pick.

8-8 is a huge difference from 5-11. Easier to say they're the same thing in retrospect but absolutely not while the season is happening. There were many good and even great Cowboy moments during the season. It's silly to act like they never happened.

Yeah, but in the big picture 8-8 isn't any better than 5-11. Just because it makes you feel better isn't a reason.

Assuming Neither results in playoffs, yeah there's not much difference.

There are good moments in a 5-11 season, too.

It's not that there's NO difference, but there isn't much.

There were good moments in the season, but this team should have been better than 8-8. Hell, 5-1 in the division is something I would be happy about every year...except this year, because the 1 loss kept this team out of the playoffs. Cowboys fans should expect better.
