It just doesn't matter to a huge portion of the population. Millions, including the majority of this board, will vote (R) no matter what. Millions will vote (D) no matter what. The rational thinkers in the middle decide Presidents.
Are you one of these rational thinkers?

What little I've seen on the debates is extremely embarrassing. Sometimes I can't believe what this country has become.

Like seriously, is this jerry springer? Making fun of the size of a guy's hands during a debate to get cheap applaudes or shock? So pathetic.
If you go back in history this isn't anything new, and in some cases it was worse back in the day.

They made fun of Cleveland's kid for being illegitimate. They made fun of Adams' weight and called him His Rotundity. They called Jefferson an atheist and said things like he was going to make everyone read the satanic bible. They called Jackson's wife a whore and Jackson basically thought that's what killed her.

That's just off the top of my head. The history of politics is history of mudslinging. This isn't new. It's maybe worse than the past couple cycles but it's certainly not new.

I think one of the main functions of the tax system is to bring in enough revenue to get the job done, the government taxes the rich more because (get this) they have the money.

Besides, rich people also derive more benefits from tax money by far than the poor and middle class. Who do you think ends up raking in all the pork barrel project money? Someone has to build bridges to nowhere, create a fighter plane program with no fighter planes, or a green energy companies that soak up subsidies then unceremoniously go out of business.
Pretty much.

As I've said, I have yet to hear a compelling reason for a flat tax. Economically, you are talking about reducing disposable income from many lower income people, which means less spending. That has the potential to be disastrous for the economy. It's simply common sense.

It was an explanation of the Trump phenom. not a justification. Pass that along to Jiggy.

You are the only one who has said you would vote for him over Clinton.

Why do you think he would be the better choice?
There are many here that will vote for Trump over Hillary. They might not say it here, but they will. Because you know, Hillary is some sort of criminal or something. Or (D).

It is the first time for me to hear this crap. I don't remember it being so embarrassing.

Please. Spare us the self righteous act.

Is there anybody here that believes you would NOT vote straight ticket (D) even if it was filled from top to bottom with the Manson family?

Anybody?

State sales taxes haven't hurt sales, haven't hurt revenue and haven't hurt poor people. And actually every federal "flat tax" or "fair tax" proposal I have seen exempts low income people and families completely. Most goods they would be buying are exempt, and they get a tax exempt "chit" they use at point of sale for taxable items. The devil is always in the details and although this seems to cover the poor, it looks to me like it could be fraud ridden.

The "compelling" reason for the fair or flat tax is the elimination of loopholes for the "rich." When Richie Rich buys a million dollar yacht, he's hit with the 10 percent or whatever it is, at point of sale. His income isn't taxed, just his consumption.

There's no way any fair or flat tax proposal ever gets through Congress if it also takes away income tax. There's simply no way Congress gives up that power.

It totally depends who wins the nomination. I think Cruz vs. the crazy socialist(Bernie) or the liar (Hillary) is a big R win. How could ANYONE vote for one of those two idiots over Cruz. Other than Trump, Hillary and Bernie are as bad as it EVER gets. I think Trump loses to either Bernie or Hillary in the general election because most Conservatives will not vote if he wins the nomination.

It's the typical empty Republican threat. They will all line up for Trump as soon as they have no other option.

I m not sure who"they" are but I promise I will never vote for him. I held my breath and voted for Romney and McCain but I just can't hold my breath enough to vote for Trump. I couldn't do it in a a Scott Air Pack.

It's become a standard play for the Republican party to threaten the nuclear option and ultimately cave. The vast majority of Republicans when faced with voting for Trump or Hilary Clinton will ultimately fall in line. They say they wouldn't now because they hope someone else will take the nomination and think they can sway others to get behind Cruz or someone else.

I stopped really giving a shit when no one gave Rand Paul two seconds of thought.

At this point, with the amount of information that's out there. I think the universal in unbiased thing to do is go against Trump. Rebranding republicans as the loud, obnoxious, physically violent party is detrimental to everyone. No one, no one, no one should let their vote amplify the voices of the freaks and losers that are represented by Trump's platform.
If you're a republican, you should be insulted by Trump's campaign success. He's every criticism of the party distilled into an orange hideous troll man. He's a violent, racist, lying narcissist, who runs on bullshit and bravado, and if you support him, your either an idiot having a tantrum, or someone willing to have the entire republican platform demolished for a "win" for team Republican.

I am equally insulted by the thuggery of the violent opponent hired trash that try to styfile free speech that should be afforded to anyone including Trump.
