One thing about Zimmer, could the young players (especially) handle him? Quinn seemed so relatable and likable to the young guys. Zimmer is an old-school hardass. Which isn't necessarily bad, but it would be a big change from Quinn.
Hate to state the obvious, but this was always the most likely outcome. Unless you have a top 4 or 5 or so QB, you have to build almost a perfect team around them to go deep in the playoffs. And the more the QB makes, the harder it is to put everything around them.
That's why I was so mad...
Right, mostly a 34 base although base doesn't mean as much anymore with all the nickel and matchup stuff.
I still say what they did on defense this year was a near miracle. I still don't think the talent was as good as they ranked, which is the sign of great coaching.
Totally agree. Zimmer is a heck of a coach. The Zimmer people hated was the Campo disciple, and that was a lifetime ago.
That said, I think he's too much of a 43 guy for Mike, who seems to really want the 34.
Troy is exactly right.
Makes you wonder if a lot of that overscheming isn't a young OC looking for a HC job trying to show everyone how smart he is instead of going with more of the non-flashy common sense basics.
That's what I love about that offense. I've always thought Dak would be best in that kind of classic Shanahan offense, same as what Kubiak runs. Romo even said during the game that's what the Cowboys should do -- run and play action off that pretty much every play. He's not the kind to drop...
I loved those pitch plays the Niners kept doing with Deebo where he'd counter back to the opposite of the flow. Looks to me like they saw our DEs were undisciplined and would crash down too hard, so they put something in to take advantage of it.
Seems like our most creative thing is putting...
I have nothing against the man whatsoever. I wouldn't have fired him if I were Miami given all the other openings and what looks to be a bunch of spare candidates.
But I also don't see what makes him so coveted by so many people all of a sudden.
But I guess if he went 9-8 here, you'd be happy...
