That's really it, consistency. Dak has not shown that rifle arm that hits a tight window with consistency. He steps into them with his whole body.

Interior DL is critical, and I think they are starting to get it based on some recent draft picks. They have to make it a priority. All the other pass rushers' jobs become easier after finding that dominant 3T and immovable/sometimes penetrating NT/1T.

Jimmy wasn't sacked, but a lot of that was his OC protecting him. What hurt was the scripted drives to start the game-- and NO DALLAS RESPONSE OFFENSIVELY. No passion or any deep understanding of the intensity the playoffs demand. No plan of attack, targeting the 49er's own weaknesses. Just a passionless and befuddled three and out.

Quinn was surprised, but he adjusted. If Dak doesn't give them a short field, they score 16 points total.

But the offense could only get something going after being down two TDs with the defense letting off-- sound familiar? That's Dak's playbook whether it's Garrett, Moore, MM... doesn't matter. Green Bay two years ago, Chicago two years ago, Cleveland, and probably a good ten other games it sickens me to have to think about.

When the defense is intensely pressing when setting the tone, Dak's safe options disappear and he gets nervous feet. He's fine once they let off the gas a bit.
Garoppolo missed some throws too. There was one in particular late in the game where Aiyuk was wide open behind the defense and he overthrew him. The defense did buckle down but there were a few plays the Niners left out there that could have blown it open.

We even spotted it wrong. The ball should have been placed where Dak started his slide.

Trying to reduce the whole season down to one catch by Wilson, which would have been a highlight reel catch for the ages, or dissecting the last second spike by Dak, ignores the the larger issues.

Dak would have had one second to complete a pass into the end zone. The fact that it came down to that misses the point that a talented team, at home, played a horrible game. Too many bone-headed penalties, undisciplined, out-schemed, out-played, out-physicaled. None of that will be fixed with draft picks or carrying on with business as usual.

There is something intrinsically and fundamentally wrong with this franchise. Yeah, it's most likely Jerry -- but even that's too easy an answer at this point.

Oh yeah, for sure. 49ers strength up front hit our weakness on the DL giving Garoppolo lots of time. Thankfully he is an average QB

He should have caught it. Bad luck he fell
It is and it's not a simple catch that hits him in the hands and he just drops it. And it wouldn't have mattered if we hadn't shit ourselves all game long but still it stings thinking of it. If he had just caught the damn ball we could have moved on and we would be able to at least talk about next weeks game.

It's true, but kind of overkill to pin the whole game on him and this one catch. Slipping is a physical mistake. He never gave up on the pattern like Patrick Crayton did in 2007.

Pathetic showing from the offense (5 sacks, terrible completion percentage, very little running game, Dak harried all game) from a team that's physical but hardly world beaters shows we just aren't ready.

This is where your OL Coach goes to the OC and starts communicating what is going on out there. If he had Bosa's number, why not use that? The fact Bosa missed pretty much a half and we did zero to exploit it was very Garrett-ish.

Just watching these plays you can see what a problem exists at Center and LG. Smith is washed but those two are weak.

I also think the OL scheme does not fit these guys. Way too much man blocking.

Overall, I think Philbin needs to get Nolan-ed.

This seemed like a good idea at the time.

Quinn did adjust, and you could see the 49ers start to bog down. Outside of the gifted (Fuck you Dak) INT that practically was a gimme TD, the D played more than good enough to win the game.
Dak and the offense however never adjusted, nor did MM or KM for that matter bother to bring in Pollard to establish a rhythm. Didn’t even try the other RB. Nothing. Just kept trying Zeke. No WR runs. No trickery. I think without a doubt KM needs to go.

Overall, it was pretty clear this team for whatever reason took over a defense mindset and I think the offense to be honest didn't give them nearly enough to hit that sweet spot when you are a good team.

That mindset is going to leave with Dan Quinn. Probably a couple of coaches too.

If they keep Moore, which I have no doubt they do, they better get another home run DC.
