Hacked

Welp, we got hacked. Someone got into our CPanel through the board website and sent out tons of spam emails so GoDaddy suspended the account. I have changed all PWs and put in place some temp security to prevent it from happening again until I can talk to Unc about what we want to do long-term. This wasn't Lord of Kazekstan level of hackery (old school reference that some may not get) but we did get compromised. I lean towards installing a permanent SSL certificate (I already put in a temp one) but this will cost us a little bit more money a year to keep in place. But, for now, we are secure.

There's another message board I am (was) a part of for a long time. It was a soccer one and the board eventually went down.

We ended up moving to Discord and they got pretty creative with it. They used "channels" like sub threads.

Honestly, it works pretty well.

Just an idea should the day come when we no longer have access to this for whatever reason.

Honestly, it's only a matter of time before message boards aren't supported at all...and that may not even come with a warning (we didn't get one at the other message board so it was a lot of work for the staff to contact as many people as they did and we lost some good members as a result), so we probably should be taking steps now so we're prepared for when that happens.

Might not be a bad idea. When you have time, would you mind setting something up that would be similar to how ours would look? Just something simple so we can play around with navigating it, etc. I know literally nothing about Discord other than my son uses it ( :unsure

Yeah man I can do that.

The cool thing is that we should still be able to use our banner, but it'll just be in the form of a chat bubble as you can see in the screenshot above.... But at least it's something!

Where it says PES Fan you can put a banner there. Not long ways so may have to redesign it a little

Yes.... You just need to share your username. Mine is texasace. (Period at the end is part of the username).

You can change your display name to whatever you want so they don't have to be the same.
